I was sent the Shakespeare Distillery Three Gin Gift Set from Yumbles for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I never used to be a gin fan. My Dad always loved a gin and tonic but I never saw the appeal. As I’ve got older though, my alcohol tastes have changed. Where I once disliked gin, wine, champagne etc, they are now my favourite tipples of choice. My friends also love gin so we often like to try different ones at home.
When Yumbles contacted me and asked if I’d like to review something from their site, I really was spoilt for choice. They have such a wide variety of products from gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and vegan foods, cheese, deli foods, chocolate and various alcohols. The range of gin they have is extensive with plenty of different flavours so I struggled to make my decision but I finally opted for this three gin gift set from Shakespeare Distillery.
I’m a big fan of Shakespeare so you can bet that is why it caught my eye. The bottles each feature Shakespeare quotes and the brand’s products are inspired by the Tudor period in which he lived and distilled in Stratford Upon Avon.
The three gin gift set features three different flavoured gins – the Stratford gin which features juniper, Mediterranean citrus and botanicals; the Mulberry gin liqueur and the Rhubarb gin liqueur. The set retails at £20 and my friend Laura came round to put them to the test.
The packaging for this gift set is absolutely beautiful. The design and text is minimalistic but tells you exactly what you need to know about the products. I loved that when you opened it up, they told you to find out more about their gin distillery tours, tastings and the gin school – I wouldn’t have known about if they hadn’t mentioned it.
As a gift set, the packaging is perfect for a gift, I’d certainly be happy to give this as a birthday, anniversary or Christmas present. But what did we think of the actual gins themselves?
The gins were in 5cl bottles so we managed a glass of each with a mixer. The mulberry gin liqueur and rhubarb gin liqueur were super tasty, they didn’t taste like gin at all if you know what I mean – they were sweet and the colours were fantastic in the glass. The Stratford gin tasted a little more like conventional gin but it wasn’t as sharp and bitter as some gin can be and was very pleasant. My friend and I are certainly considering what other gins and gin liqueurs Shakespeare Distillery have to offer as we enjoyed them so much!
As I mentioned above, the bottles each feature Shakespeare quotes which I think is a lovely touch. I noticed that each quote touched on an ingredient in that particular bottle – the Stratford gin quote mentioned rosemary, the Rhubarb gin liqueur quote mentioned rhubarb and the Mulberry gin liqueur quote mentioned mulberries. I love it when brands do something unique such as this and it certainly means I will remember them.
Overall, I was very impressed with the tastes of the gin/gin liqueurs and I loved the presentation of them – the bottles are super cute, the packaging very pretty and the quotes a great addition. I also think the gift set is a fantastic and affordable price at £20, making it a great gift idea for the gin lovers in your family. You too could find the perfect gin gift set at Yumbles.

What is your favourite type of gin?

I was the same as you, I hated even the smell of gin as a child but it was my Mum’s tipple of choice.
Now I can’t get enough of it!
I realised it was tonic I don’t actually like so instead I have it with lemonade!
This would be perfect for my mother-in-law she loves gin! This makes a lovely gift pack to make cocktails with.
These look so gorgeous! I’d love to try the rhubarb!
My mum loves her gin, so I think that this might be a great gift idea for her
