Something I haven’t actually announced yet on here has been that we are expecting another baby, due in February 2023. After announcing both Jack and Olivia’s pregnancies and births – and even some unhappy pregnancy news – in the past, it has felt odd to not announce it but also quite refreshing. It has been quite nice just letting people find out when they find out – obviously the important people were told from the offset however, such as the kids and our parents!
But with Olivia about to turn 6 and Jack having just turned 11 (remember I announced my pregnancy and his arrival with this child on this blog!!), we don’t really have much baby stuff lying about. Of course we have a few bits and pieces that we have kept from the previous two and thanks to my avid competition entering, I’ve won a pushchair – but we still have quite a few bits that we need to pick up!
But how am I saving money on baby items this time around?
Looking For Discount Codes
You know me – I am a total bargain hunter! This means I am always on the lookout for a mamas and papas discount code or a promo code that gets me a little bit off of the regular price. I am quite lucky that I have some awesome friends who always let me know when there is a sale on or tell me of a good discount code to use!
I also like to use the little coupons that come with the little packs you get throughout pregnancy and on some of the pregnancy sites online – they come in really handy sometimes!
Checking Out Local Reuse Sites
I am not sure if you have these in your area but my local villages and towns have reuse sites on Facebook where you can pick up some great items for free. I picked up a brand new steriliser that had never been used – just in a damaged box – for free the other week and I have also managed to score some lovely baby clothes for baby girl too! You never know what is going to be listed on there so I’d advise checking in on a regular basis if you do have one local to you!

Start Stocking Up Early
I am superstitious in the sense that I will never buy any items for the baby until things are confirmed to be okay – just because previous events always have me nervous. However once everything seems to be okay, I start stocking up early on things I may need such as nappies and wipes; spreading the cost so I save money in the long run.
Now, having been through this rodeo twice before, I know that every nappy brand or wipe brand suits every baby so I always end up with a few different brands to work out which suits best. The last thing I’d want is to have stocked up with just one brand and the baby and I don’t get on with it!
I often find that if I am stocking up early, my mum and some friends always seem to pick up bits too which means I am always sorted for at least a few weeks when the baby first arrives!
Reuse Your Old Stuff
As I mentioned, I don’t have much of our old stuff left as we gave away quite a lot but we do have a few bits. By reusing these items, I won’t need to buy them new so will be saving some money here which is always helpful!
