Review | Summer Infant Slumber Buddies

Item sent for purpose of review as part of my role as a Summer Mama. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

When it comes to newborns, they can sleep a lot -but not always when you want them to. Much like her big brother, Olivia is more than happy to sleep most of the day and spend most of the night awake. We’ve obviously been working out her schedule and we’ve finally got her sleeping for a few hours a night before a feed rather than her waking every hour for no real reason at all. I now get three to four hours interrupted sleep before she wakes again (she’ll then settle down again for another few hours after a feed and a nappy change) and I am putting it down to her SwaddleMe swaddles and this, her elephant Slumber buddy from Summer Infant.

Retailing at £24.99, Eddie the Elephant is a  soft, plush elephant and is said to be the ideal bedtime companion for a child. With starry night projections in three different colours and different lullabies and sounds (one seems to resemble a heartbeat – I know Olivia calms down when laid on my chest so this was always going to be effective for her), there’s a lot to choose from.

The colours of the projections are very vibrant and the sounds are of a decent sound level to soothe your child to sleep without getting too annoying for you as the parent. For an older child, Eddie would be perfect to cuddle – he’s soft all around except for the plastic of the light show dome – but we choose to have Eddie out of Olivia’s moses basket as she is of course a little too small to be having him in with her right now – on the bedside table close by is good enough for her.

Jack and I have filmed a quick demo of the light show and sounds that Eddie emits – please forgive how amateur it is but it shows how the light show works fairly well, I think.

As you can see, it is quite mesmerising and I can see why Olivia (and Jack if I am being perfectly honest) like it so much!

With this soothing my daughter a little and her SwaddleMe swaddles providing a snug, comforting experience, she is falling to sleep a lot easier without fighting it which is making it a whole lot easier on us – I’m a monster with no sleep!

There are a wide variety of other Slumber Buddies on the website to choose from – all just as cute as Eddie. Why not take a look and find your favourite? I’d have them all if I could!

  1. This is absolutely adorable! Items like this make me so broody. That or wish that I could shrink my littles for a day! x

  2. What a cool and multi-functional toy. Very good idea for the little ones!

  3. My eldest had something similar to this when she was a baby and was OBSESSED with it! Shed’ walk up in the middle of the night, just to turn it on again. x

  4. Aww this sounds like an adorable product. How bright is it actually? How effective is the projection? I’ve been comtemplating getting something like this for my little ones, as opposed to a plug in night light x
