I was recently contacted by the team behind Pogu, a brand who develop safety reflective products for the baby and children’s market. This is something I have definitely seen a gap in the market for and Pogu seem to fill that gap. We all know to wear our reflective clothing if going out for a jog or bike ride in the dark but we’re adults – safety reflective items for children never really seemed to be around until recently.
But I’m glad they are. Despite the fact that our children won’t be leaving our side in the dark, their safety is paramount. Our walk home from school takes quite a while and its often growing dark as we walk through our front door. Should we make a detour somewhere else on the school run, we may get home in the pitch black so I want to ensure Jack is completely safe at all times. As well as him keeping with me and holding my hand and applying the usual road safety rules, I’ve also recently put the children’s reflective armband (£8.99) on him.
Simple but cute in design, we were sent the Space Odyssey design – but it does in fact come in two different designs: Space Odyssey and Ocean Reef. The 3M ScotchliteTM technology used in the armband reflects over 200m in low light conditions which is quite some distance and very impressive. The VelcroTM fastening makes the armband quick and easy to use which is ideal with a young child.
The armband itself is foam lined for extra comfort, is reflective whatever the weather condition – wet or dry; and also comes with a discreet ID tag on the inside so you can be even more assured of your child’s safety.

You can’t put a price on your child’s safety but at £8.99, I believe this to be a great resource to have to hand if having to make journeys in the dark. We all want to be as safe and as well protected as we can and ensuring that our children’s tiny bodies can be seen in low light is very important. They’re much more likely to be missed due to their size so safety reflective accessories are a must. I’ve been looking at the other Pogu products and will definitely be picking up some wheel designs and reflective shapes for the pram when baby girl has arrived.
As you can see, the armband is incredibly reflective and easy to see. The armband itself is well designed, fits snugly around Jack’s arm and is adjustable (thanks to the Velcro strap) to your child’s size. I am taking it up to school everyday with me (reluctant to leave it with him as it will get lost!) and its been invaluable so far when we’ve had to make an unexpected detour on the way home and thus arrived home in the dark – I’ve felt safer knowing we’ve got that little bit extra safety reflective stuff on us.
Do you and your children wear safety reflective stuff when out and about in the dark? How do you keep your children safe in the winter when it gets dark so quickly?
