Our Visit to SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth

It has been a long, long time since I had last visited a SEA LIFE centre and in fact even longer for Steve. When we were children, they were one of our favourite places to visit with our respective families and we were keen to take Jack one day. The nearest one to us is London but since we were holidaying in Great Yarmouth over half term week in October, we kindly accepted the offer to review SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth, thanks to Visit Greater Yarmouth and tell you our thoughts.

As I may have mentioned before, we were on holiday with both of my parents and were more than happy to tail off as just three for this day but we were very kindly offered the chance to accommodate us all for this review which we are really appreciative of – especially my Dad. My Dad had to use a wheelchair for most of the holiday and we really can’t fault the SEA LIFE centre on its accessibility – he managed to get everywhere and see everything.

The SEA LIFE centre had tons of stuff going on for Halloween for the children which was great. There was a book to stamp at the various stamping points, a puzzle to solve (you had to notice letters along the way and then solve the anagram and tell a member of staff for a prize) and photo opportunities. Jack of course wanted a photo and we let him choose – I now have a picture of Steve, Jack and myself surrounded by penguins which is really cute and really funny.

Jack loved seeing the rays and ‘their funny little faces’ – I swear these guys were total posers, showing off for the photos! They kept bobbing in and out of the water and Jack loved seeing them and learning all about them.

Jack loves all animals, its clear to see, and he adored seeing all the different sea creatures from the rays to the fish and the sharks. In fact, the adults were also increasingly fascinated by the creatures we saw and especially when we learned more about them.

Jack even received a medal for stroking a starfish – he soon pulled his hand away as it was ‘spiky’ apparently but the staff member gave him a medal for his bravery and he wore it proud as punch through the whole centre.

I thought Jack may get a little worried about walking underneath the shark tank to get through to the next bit but he wasn’t worried or scared at all and was in fact in his element. He loved pointing out the sharks, the big Medusa head and all the other creatures he could spot in the tank and I swear he would have stood there all day if I had given him the chance!

 It was such a fantastic day, a great experience for all and we will definitely be heading back next time we go to Great Yarmouth.The staff were very friendly, the whole centre was wheelchair friendly, there was plenty of fun half term activities for Jack to take part in and there was plenty of stuff to see. We would not hesitate to go back or visit another SEA LIFE centre, we were very impressed.
