We have been living in our new house for two and a half years now. Can you really call it a new house after two years though? Regardless, we’ve slowly been doing up different rooms in the house to suit everyone and recently, Jack’s room was the one subject to renovation.
Jack is now a teenager – which is crazy when you consider I started this site a month before I got pregnant with him! – and his room was desperately in need of updating from a kid’s play area to a teenage haven. He had already shown signs of wanting to spend more time in his room playing on his console, reading or watching TV but his room was just a little too childish for him so we decided it was time for an update.
Out with the old and in with the new. We got rid of the majority of his bedroom furniture – throwing broken items, giving away items we had no further need for and giving Olivia and Hannah pieces for when Hannah moves into Olivia’s room.
We decided to upgrade Jack’s bed from a single to a double to give him more space but then that posed a problem…he needed a new mattress. A few weeks ago, the team at Origin came to the rescue and offered us a Hybrid Pro mattress to review. Of course, we had to say yes and waited eagerly for it to arrive.

When it came we unboxed it as soon as we could and you could immediately see what good quality the mattress was. It was easy to unbox although you will definitely need two hands and will need to get out of the way because it unfurls fairly quickly.

The mattress itself is super comfortable and Jack has been spending a lot of time in his room since it arrived. The pets often try and get up with him, especially during the night if he has happened to leave his door open. With his old bed and mattress, this would wake him up but due to minimal motion transfer, he doesn’t have to worry about this with this mattress. He barely feels a thing!
Jack has always been a good sleeper when he finally goes to sleep but sometimes struggles to drop off and often wakes up really early – he is often the first one up at the weekend when the rest of us are trying to have a lie in. Since he has been using the Hybrid Pro mattress however, he seems to be falling to sleep quicker and he definitely seems to be sleeping for longer. He also seems well rested and much more productive. Like any teenage boy, getting him to do his homework can be a hard graft and his teachers say he’s great but could do with putting in a bit more effort. The last few weeks, he’s been getting great feedback about the effort he is putting into both classwork and homework and I can’t help but wonder if having a better night’s sleep is the cause.

Overall, we are very impressed with this mattress and we are definitely considering opting for Hybrid Pro mattresses for the rest of the family when it comes to replacing theirs. The Hybrid Pro mattress is currently retailing at £475 but you can pick yours up for a little cheaper with this exclusive discount code, getting you £20 off! I have had a few mishaps with new mattresses over the years. One where it was awful and obviously had a fault. So I take reviews seriously. The origin mattress sounds great quality and with not only Jack but also the dog and cat loving it as well. Will definitely look at these when next buying a mattress
