I’ve been quite lucky when it comes to dates – I’ve never really had a bad one, per se – and it has never been the fault of either of us when it has gone a little awry. But I thought I’d tell you a little about my worst date.
I had been seeing someone local for a little while but it was very on/off and we only really got to see each other at in the local pub or around our working times. We decided we finally needed to do something just us so were going to head into town, do some light shopping then grabbing a bite to eat together. All was going well, we got into town and then we bumped into an acquaintance – a sort of friend of mine and an ex fling of his. Awkward straight away, right? What’s worse is that she seemed to be on her own and before I knew it, she was tagging along with us.
We couldn’t seem to shake her off despite us trying to subtly suggest it and in the end we ended up saying we needed to go back home for some reason and we all headed our separate ways with me meeting him down the local pub later where – yes, we got to spend time together but once again, all our friends were hanging around so we didn’t get any time on our own. Seeing each other isn’t great if you never ever get some time on your own.
I suppose I am quite lucky in being able to call this my worst date – after all, it isn’t really that bad – we just had a hanger on and had to make other arrangements that didn’t really suit us. But it certainly wasn’t the greatest thing at the time and left me feeling rather annoyed. However I have heard of plenty of people having much worse dates than me – I recently read a post from another blogger who found out the guy who’d given her his number was in a very serious relationship and another blogger had a first date with a guy who was horrible – a casual racist, a body shamer. My worst date story pales into comparison when you consider those.
This is why I think online dating is so great. You can talk to someone for ages before agreeing to meet so you can really get to know them (well, as much as you can behind a screen behind a device after all) before actually meeting up with them. I can see why so many single men and women are giving online dating a try – especially the sites in their local area. They get to meet like minded people who are looking for exactly the same things. Isn’t that just the best way to try to find love?
You can get dating locally on these sites: dating in Shetland, Berkshire singles, date Isle of Man singles, dating in Staffordshire and Norwich singles. This is where I would certainly be looking if I was single!
