My TV Moments

It is safe to say that our television is one of our most prized possessions and not one we would be parted with lightly. We have a variety of shows we watch including sports and films so as you can imagine, we want to get our moneys worth!

Our TV spends a lot of time on as Jack loves to watch his children’s TV at certain times during the day – CBeebies is usually his channel of choice but there is only so many times you can hear the Chuggington or Timmy Time theme tune before searching for something a little more on your level! I quite like to watch repeats of much loved TV shows whilst Steve is at work and Jack is napping – of course I should probably be working myself but who doesn’t love a little bit of me time?

Some of our favourite programmes include Supernatural, Elementary, The Walking Dead, RAW and so many more. I recently took the Talk Talk TV Tribes quiz to see what type of TV viewer I am and I got The Family Guy.

Most of this is actually quite true as we do watch plenty of stuff as a family. However, myself and Steve do watch quite a lot of stuff once Jack has gone to bed as it isn’t on until after his bedtime or isn’t very suitable for him. Our DVR is always recording something as there is usually a few things that we want to watch and more often than not, we do eat in front of the television – mainly because our house is too small for a separate eating area!

We do tend to watch all the big weekend shows:  The Voice, Britain’s Got Talent – we’ve really been loving Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway recently as it has been hilarious! We’re really looking forward to The X Factor returning too and can’t wait to see who joins Cheryl on the judging panel! After hearing the rumours, I really hope it is Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas! The fact that the quiz says we are just like those families on the TV show Gogglebox really amuses me as it is so true! We hardly ever concentrate fully on a programme when it’s on as we are often too busy discussing what we think is going to happen or what has already happened! We would fit right in with the Gogglebox families!

Our television is also a big focus when our friends come round too – my friend Laura and I have this annual event for Eurovision – she comes round, we eat takeaway and drink wine and laugh at all the entries. We also inevitably miss the UK entry every year because Laura decides she wants to go for a cigarette outside and wants someone to chat to! We would be lost without the live rewind function although we are often left wondering why we bothered – we don’t have a great track record when it comes to Eurovision recently!

Suffice to say our television is one of our favourite things – and my perfect TV moment is sitting round the television watching one of the big family shows such as The X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent with my family and friends – it always makes it more fun when everyone has got their favourites and you make a night of it, all urging on your chosen contestant to win! The discussions can sometimes get quite heated though but it’s all part of the fun – TV is meant to provoke discussion and our favourite TV shows do just that.

  2. Piggitch aka Lynda Pace says:

Not a fan of reality shows apart from the audition stage of BGT and maybe X Factor my husband and I act as if we are part of the panel.. the panellist most in tune with our views is Simon Cowell, although with him you can see him focus on the ££££ signs rather than whether or not the act has got talent. Reality shows are cheap and provide revenue for the TV companies and have al but killed drama.
