Now Olivia is at school full time and is no longer a toddler, I don’t find myself carrying around half as much stuff. This means I can finally start utilising my handbags again rather than drab changing bags or holdalls. No more nappies, dummies, reins and other things that come with having babies or toddlers. They carry their own school bags, yay!
I wanted to talk to you today about a few of my handbag essentials, I’d also love to know what you keep in your handbag at all times. Is there something unique that you don’t think many people would also carry?
My handbag essentials include:
My Phone
I have my phone on me at all times, especially when away from the kids – I need to be contactable in an emergency and we don’t have a landline. This means it is always with me, whether I take a bag out or not.
My Keys
Pretty self explanatory – I need them to lock and unlock my house – and I also have keys for family members houses and our storage facility.
Pain Relief
I keep some form of pain relief with me at all times, usually opting for something like drug free like this arthritis pain relief from Paingone. I may not always need it but when I want fast acting pain relief that is drug free, it means I always have some.

Lip Balm
With both me and Olivia suffering with badly chapped lips, I always have to carry some lip balm with me – just to ease the pain the chapping can cause! I usually end up with three or four rattling around my handbag however….
A Book/My Kindle
This all depends on what I am in the middle of reading – I currently have three books on the go (one paperback, one eBook on Kindle and one audiobook) so would be carrying around both. However if I am in the middle of a book on my Kindle, I won’t be carrying a physical book around with me.
Baby Wipes
Now I may no longer have a baby or a toddler but baby wipes are soooo handy so I still carry a pack with me most of the time. They can be so helpful when Olivia has managed to get food around her face or mud all over her hands when there’s no sinks nearby! I don’t think I will ever have a time when I don’t carry a pack around with me.
My Purse
I don’t carry around much money – all of my important cards are kept in the card slots of my phone case – but if I am taking a handbag out with me, I will take my purse out in it too. It’s handy for keeping all of my change in and the cards I don’t need as regularly as the ones in my phone.
