Mindful Minis Mindful Month | Review

We were given access to the Mindful Month plus the journal for review. All thoughts and opinions are our own. This post contains affiliate links.

After almost a year spent at home, apart from a few months at school in the Autumn, kids have certainly struggled. Sometimes they need a little encouragement in being mindful and the Mindful Minis Mindful Month is there to help with this.

The Mindful Minis team have been visiting schools for the past 2 years helping children understand what mindfulness is all about in fun and engaging ways so that they can take these and understand make use of them in their everyday lives.

Recent circumstances have meant that this hasn’t been a possibility so they created an initiative for children to be able to do it at home over the course of four weeks. They named it the ‘Mindful Month’. It is a journal with daily activities for them to do at home for around 15 minutes per day. They’ve also create a series of daily videos to guide them through their daily journal tasks.

They will spend the four weeks learning about the Mindful Minis 10 mindful mottos, find out more on mindfulness and the four weekly themes. I was given access to the month and also a fantastic journal to see what I thought.

So what did we think?

Jack can find it hard to talk sometimes, he is quite shy and quite sensitive and much prefers to write things down or draw them. The past year has been difficult for him as he was finally starting to come out of his shell at school and at the childminders and then bam! Into lockdown we went.  Sometimes he just won’t talk to me and needs a little bit of head space and I find that some time doing mindful activities

The journal is for four weeks and there are also the daily videos to help them work through the journal activities. Jack has been using the journal for a couple of weeks now and really seems to be enjoying it. It gives him some me time to be in his own thoughts – but in a good way! – and just write down and draw some different things.

I have found it fascinating going through his journal afterwards with him and seeing what he has to say! I knew he liked pizza but it seemed he had gone off golf- who knew? I also didn’t know art was his favourite subject although he has been drawing and painting a lot more in the past year.

Jack has been loving completing the activities as they are a lot of fun.

As a parent, I really like the different elements of the Mindful Month, especially the four weekly themes. There are quotes of the day, breathing exercises, meditations and so much more. I think it is a lovely way for a child to practice mindfulness and I would definitely recommend the programme.

  1. A lot of children could benefit from this, it has been a hard year for us as adults, so no idea what our children have really thought. This gives them another channel to let out their thoughts and not bottle things up

  2. This looks brilliant. I think all children could do with some support right now. This year has been so difficult for them and we need to find ways to express themselves.

    Great idea x

I think anything that can get kids to be more mindful and think about themselves is good, especially over the past year x

It sounds like this has been very useful so far for your son. Glad you found out he has gone off golf. It helps to keep on top of things as they don’t always tell us.

  8. Both my kids love journalling and I think it’s great for their mental health right now.

  9. Oh I absolutely love the sound of this – what a great way for children to express themselves. Kaz
