I am usually rubbish at meal planning and generally just make it up as I go along, pulling stuff out of the freezer or cupboard and making something from that. This week however I actually decided to set up a meal plan so this is what we have planned for the week ahead. I even instagrammed a picture!
Yesterday we had the slow cooker chicken with veg and a little stock pot I was sent via a survey company to review. It was garlic and thyme flavour and it all tasted delicious. We had it with roast potatoes and roast parsnips. For the week ahead we have:
Monday – Pasta bake with garlic bread
Tuesday – Salt and pepper chicken steaks with side (currently thinking the sweetcorn fritters I have in the fridge and some curly fries)
Wednesday – Free choice as Steve is on nights. I will probably have a small pie that I have in the freezer, Jack will probably have fish fingers, chips and peas.
Thursday – Another free choice as Steve is on nights. We will probably have ham and cheese omelettes.
Friday – Steve and I will be having the duck legs with plum sauce that I picked up from Waitrose, unsure on sides. Not too sure about Jack yet, he may have one of the Little Dish meals we have in the freezer.
Saturday – Pizza or pasta – we can choose. Will probably go for pizza.
Sunday – Roast turkey breast, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, peas, runner beans and Yorkshire puddings
What have you got this week? Do you like meal planning?

Meal planning is a blessing when you’re on a budget but if not, there really is no point in doing it! I prefer it when I’m saving money though.

I haven’t even thought of meal planning in this way, I think this could be quite helpful especially when money is tight.
Every week I say to myself that I am going to be more organised and plan the meals for the week ahead – it doesn’t happen
I haven’t meal planned in ages, I used to meal plan when I lived alone because it was a way of saving money and not wasting food. Men ruin that lol. It’s great though for those reasons above xx
I’m coming for dinner, like everyday nom nom nom x
Sounds like a great week – now that the school hols are over I am getting back into meal planning. You feel so much better for it don’t you!
I never meal plan although it would help with my diet if I did! You’ve got some great meals, I’d like to come round a few nights this week haha
I REALLY need to get back on top of this! I am being so bad when it omes to planning anything but especially food! Thankyou for the nudge!
Welcome to meal planning! It can be hit n miss so don’t worry if you can’t stick to it all, having a plan is great though for keeping an eye on budgets and no waste either too 🙂
The duck legs with plum sauce sounds gorgeous. I love that you have left ‘free nights’ to let you decide how you feel, we normally plan for each day but switch the plan around depending on how we feel, its so important to be flexible, hope you have a lovely week x
Thank you for sharing. I am always stuck for new meal ideas and also rubbish at planning meals. Must try harder
Where do you it sweetcorn fritters from or did you make them? I loves wretched cakes from the Thai restaurant and I’m imagining these to be the same. x
Waitrose!
I feel if I were to plan my meals, I would obsess over what I was eating!

Planning is key for us. If we don’t plan we usually end up with take aways which is not good when we are trying to loose weight!
I am hopeless at meal planning but given the cooler weather is coming, the slow cooker will be working hard x
I used to do meal planning but as we have a really tiny fridge I can’t fit in a weeks worth of meal plan so have to go day by day. Most of the time I don’t bother and just pull out whatever I have in the fridge or freezer.
We make a meal plan every week – sticking to it is a completely different matter though!
I never do meal planning. I go shopping, pick what is on special offer and cook around it.
I really need to start planning my meals. I love pasta bake!

I SO need to plan my meals, I know I would waste less food. I could eat pasta every day! Kaz x
I have always thought of meal planning but never got around doing it but I must try !
