My Life In Books | The 30 Day Challenge

I recently saw Jess from Babi a Fi’s post about blog tags, memes and challenges. I’ve seen a few that I am really interested in so am going to be completing them over the next few months. The first one that caught my eye was the 30 day book challenge. Now I wouldn’t manage to keep it up, posting every day for a different book but I liked the way Jess collated hers into one post so thought I would do the same. I hope you enjoy & I tag you all to complete it too. I’m not sure where the challenge originated, it seems Tumblr but if anyone knows, please do let me know. I’ve used the questions from Tumblr but you can use the questions Jess uses if you so wish.

books

01 – Best book you read last year

I would have to say Sewing the Shadows Together by Alison Baillie. Thoroughly gripping and I’ve already mentioned multiple times that it was my favourite book of 2015.

02 – A book that you’ve read more than 3 times

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. A few different books in the Sweet Valley High series. Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. Heidi by Johanna Spyri. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

I don’t actually reread many of my books but these are a few of the ones that I have read multiple times.

 03 – Your favorite series

I actually would have to say the Harry Potter series. It is the only series that has ever kept me entirely gripped throughout.

04 – Favorite book of your favorite series

Prisoner of Azkaban. Without a doubt.

05 – A book that makes you happy

A book that always makes me happy is Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. The premise is so bizarre but its so funny and always puts a smile on my face.

06 – A book that makes you sad

It is a little known book that I still own that I have re read multiple times. Its called Remember Me by Cheryl Lantham and it is part of the Tear Jerkers series. The book is 20 years old now but is such an emotional story about cancer, love and loss.

07 – Most underrated book

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and six more by Roald Dahl. The story of Henry Sugar still captivates me now yet it isn’t as well known as his other work.

08 – Most overrated book

Twilight. No explanation needed.

09 – A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Divergent by Veronica Roth. I had heard mixed things about the series but I loved it.

10 – Favorite classic book

This is a tough one. Probably Little Women by Louisa May Alcott but Heidi by Johanna Spyri comes a close second.

11 – A book you hated

Lord of The Flies by William Golding AND Spies by Michael Frayn. I loved studying English Literature but these two books (GCSE level and A-Level, respectfully) were the bane of my life.

12 – A book you used to love but don’t anymore

I can’t choose a book but can I choose a series? Bridget Jones. Mad About The Boy ruined the series for me.

13 – Your favorite writer

Need you ask? Agatha Christie.

14 – Favorite book of your favorite writer

And Then There Were None – so clever.

15 – Favorite male character

I feel like after the previous two questions I should say Hercule Poirot but I am actually going with Remus Lupin from the Harry Potter series. I know he is well loved but I do feel as if his character is quite underrated in comparison to some of the other characters. I also have a soft spot for him as PoA is my favourite book of the series and was the first book I bought from the series.

16 – Favorite female character

This is a tough one. Whilst I can definitely tell you my least favourite female characters, I am having a tough time whittling down my favourite! I think it would probably have to be Celine from Gunshot Glitter by Yasmin Selena Butt. There are so many layers to her.

17 – Favorite quote from your favorite book

Does this mean from my favourite book from my favourite series, my favourite book from my favourite author or my favourite classic book? I’m not sure so will share a quote from each.

“Besides, the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters. We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” – Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

“It is perfectly clear. Mr. Owen is one of us.…” – Justice Wargrave, And Then There Were None

“Watch and pray, dear, never get tired of trying, and never think it is impossible to conquer your fault.” – Mrs March, Little Women

18 – A book that disappointed you

Allegiant. Enough said I think.

19 –  Favorite book turned into a movie

Starting to sound a little repetitive now but Prisoner of Azkaban.

20 – Favorite romance book

I don’t really read romance but I would probably say Return To Bluebell Hill by Rebecca Pugh (read my review here).

21 – Favorite book from your childhood

Harry Potter, Little Women, Heidi, Henry Sugar. Sensing a theme here? I adored Sweet Valley High, Jacqueline Wilson books and The Princess Diaries though.

22 – Favorite book you own

My signed copy of Gunshot Glitter.

23 – A book you wanted to read for a long time but still haven’t

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I know, I know.

24 – A book that you wish more people would’ve read

Lorna Doone – it is one the classics you don’t hear that much about.

25 – A character who you can relate to the most

Jo March, Little Women. I adore her.

26 – A book that changed your opinion about something

I am unsure. I really don’t have an answer for this.

27 – The most surprising plot twist or ending

Allegiant. Still not happy.

28 – Favorite title

The Illustrated Mum – it leaves so much to the imagination when reading this book as a child.

29 – A book everyone hated but you liked

I don’t know. I’ve got a lot that I hate that people liked but not many I liked but others hated. I quite enjoyed The Maze Runner series but that seems to be pretty unpopular?

30 – Your favorite book of all time

Little Women.

What would your answers be to these questions?
