Life After A Lockdown {Week 80}

You might have noticed that I took some time off last week – I will explain why further on in the post but hey, I’m back! Hope you’re all well and having a good October so far!

You probably already know but this linky is run by myself and Sarah from Life In A Breakdown. If you want to join in then you simply need to write your own post, link back to both myself and Sarah within the post and then add it to the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post.

So what are the questions?

1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

1. How are you feeling/coping?

Still very very stressed. We were meant to be out of this place last Tuesday but had not been able to find anywhere to move to despite trying so, so hard. We kept getting turned down because we either had kids, had a dog, I was self employed, we couldn’t meet the 36 x monthly rent annually (which always takes people into ridiculous figures!). The list was endless. We also found people offering way over the monthly price – someone offered £500 OVER the asking price for a place we also submitted an offer on for monthly rent – of course the landlord was going to pick them!

So currently we are waiting on the council to help us with temporary accommodation whilst we look for somewhere and also go on the list for a council place. Our letting agent has been very understanding and let us stay here but the landlord of course wants their house back and we don’t want to be here any longer either – it’s just waiting to see what the council do! Our house is a shell at the moment with so much in storage – I feel most sorry for the kids as we have had to put so much of the house in storage so when we get the go ahead, we can move the bare bones of stuff remaining over.

But yes, stressed and anxious and just want this all to end now so I can look forward.

2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?

Most of the week has been spent putting stuff into storage, to be honest. We also had to get a PCR test done on the kids because they have got coughs. They were both negative which we expected.

3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in/or after a pandemic?

That life can be tough but we can work through it.

4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?

Think about your own safety and that of your families.

5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone elses!)

I enjoyed telling you m0re about the Trade For Aid reusable sanitary pads!

6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

Family and friends keeping me sane.

7. What has made you smile this week?

Spending some time catching up on Grey’s Anatomy – I haven’t had much down time recently.

8. Anything else you would like to mention?

I can’t think of anything!

  1. I’m so sorry, that sounds like such a nightmare . I really hope all the housing stuff falls in to place for you really soon. Sending all positive wishes for that.

  2. It sounds like you are having a nightmare time, before I left to become a Mum I was a Housing Needs Officer and dealt with housing applications through to offer, and know how hard it is but can give you some tips which may still work.

  3. Rhian Westbury says:

I can’t imagine how stressful your house situation must be, you just want to have somewhere you can feel a little settled. I hope you manage to find somewhere soon x

  4. I really hope you hear something about being moved soon, I can’t imagine how stressful it is for you. The housing market is absolutely crazy. Glad both the kids came back as Covid negative.

  5. Ahhh hope you get sorted with the move soon! It sounds so stressful! Xo
