Jack’s First Proper Halloween Experience

Jack hasn’t really celebrated Halloween before. Sure, he knew what it was but until this year, we felt he was too young for the things that go hand in hand with Halloween and this year was the only year we could be guaranteed he wouldn’t be scared – he’s been talking about Halloween and watching kids Halloween videos on Youtube for months!

Yesterday was his first time trick or treating and I couldn’t wait to see how he got on. We arrived at my friend Laura’s house at 4pm for a little Halloween party, complete with sweets, some picky party food bits and Halloween music. As our fireworks display was starting at 7pm, we went out at 5pm trick or treating.

We kept to the houses that had pumpkins outside their door or inside their window and Jack had a fantastic time. Despite talking about it for ages, he was a little confused at first as to what to do but soon got into the swing of things and was eagerly pointing out pumpkins and talking excitedly about the sweets he had been given.

So what did he think of his first Halloween experience? He found it really fun but very tiring. We walked up to my friend Laura’s which is the other side of the village to where we live and we trick or treated round there as we knew people up there and knew they’d be participating. We did a whole loop of that area of the village so I’m not surprised he was tired.

It is now the 1st of November and he is already talking about next year – I think he enjoyed himself, don’t you?
