With Jack’s birthday and Christmas being so close together, it is very hard to buy things for him. I get him toys and books but with them being within three weeks of each other, I also tend to buy him clothes and shoes as he is turning into a right little fashion conscious dude, always letting me know which things he likes…and which things he definitely doesn’t.
He has recently been moaning at me that we need to update his trainers – to be honest, he isn’t wrong, the velcro is pretty much redundant but I have been struggling to find shoes that he not only likes but that fit him too. He’s a bit of a shoe fiend but he will let you know which ones he likes. His current favourites are his school shoes although he isn’t allowed to wear them apart from at school. He also loves his wellies but we need to get a new pair as his other pair are being kept at school for when they do forest school.
After finding out all about Shoetique’s kids range when I held a giveaway with them almost a year ago, they were the first place I thought to look. Far too many shoe retailers bump the prices up to sometimes extortionate rates but I’ve always found Shoetique, among a few small others, keep prices affordable for their customers. After sitting with Jack to discuss what his favourite shoes were, we finally came up with the above list. He is a big fan of the Joules wellies and especially likes the blue ones which would be perfect for winter and as he said ‘jumping in muddy puddles’ (as you can’t jump in muddy puddles without wearing your boots, can you?).
Despite it being winter, Jack is already thinking of a holiday next year (he is desperate to return to the Isle of Wight) and he would like the Havaiana’s for the beach apparently. My kid loves sun, sea and sand, that much is obvious. I’ve always known him to be a big slipper fan too – he always likes to put on mine or Steve’s and parade around the house in them but his slippers have recently worn out. The two monster ones are my favourites – slippers are so much cooler for children than they are adults – but the boot style ones are also lovely and provide a little more support.
I’m thinking a pair of slippers and a pair of wellies, one for his birthday and one for his Christmas present but I’m stuck for which ones to get him. Which ones would you pick?

Love the green monster slippers and blue wellies….have to say when my children were young, there was never such a cool variety of footwear……and when I was young it was worse !
