It’s Time To Move

Collaborative Post

We’ve been saying for a while that we want to move as the house we are currently living in is too small for our needs. We have been looking for other properties on and off but nothing stood out to us. Now we absolutely have to move as our landlady is selling the property and we need to move out. We’ve been looking around to see what is out there to suit our family and there is a couple of properties we have got our eye on. What we are looking for though is somewhere we can make our home – this means we want something that is fairly long term and not going to want to sell up within a year of us moving in.

But what are we looking for?

Three Bedrooms

We are hoping for three bedrooms so the kids can have one each but we would consider a two bedroom if the bedrooms were large so that the kids could share but still have their own space. I’d love to find a four bedroom in the area as that would be amazing but I am pretty sure that would be completely out of my budget.

A Large Kitchen

I absolutely need a large kitchen after eight years of a galley kitchen – it is just so tiny and with no storage space. I’d love a kitchen area where I can actually move around, store stuff without it cluttering the worktops and actually enjoy cooking.

A Decent Sized Garden

The garden here is pretty much the size of a postage stamp. If Olivia uses her slide and Jack plays football, they manage to get in each others way, its that small. If I am moving to a different place, I want to have a decent sized garden so they can play outside in the summer and have fun.

The Ability To Put Our Own Stamp On Things

You get some landlords and landladies who won’t let you change absolutely anything whereas you get others who will let you if you change it back when you leave or will actually let you do stuff if you discuss it with them and it adds value to the property. I’d love to be able to decorate some of the rooms – perhaps even wallpaper them, perhaps decorating Olivia’s room with any of these palm tree wallpapers to really bring some colour to the room.

Pets Allowed

Every rental property we’ve been in hasn’t allowed pets so we are really keen to find one that allows pets. Jack and Steve are desperate for a dog so if we can find somewhere that allows dogs, that will be amazing – and probably a deal breaker for Steve. Of course the kids would also like other pets too – Jack is very keen on a bearded dragon and Olivia would love some fish too.

It is sad we are having to move as we have so many memories here – we moved in with Jack exactly one month after he was born and so he and his sister don’t know any different. However we have been wanting to move for a while so this has just given us the kick we need to find a home better suited to us.

Wish us luck!

  1. Moving home is always filled with joy and sadness, leaving so many memories behind. But the memories go with you and the new adventure and memories you will make in your new home will be just as exciting. Good luck in finding your new home

  2. I am so excited for you – I hope everything goes well and you can find your new home soon! It must be so bittersweet leaving where you are now with all the memories, but you have so many more to create.

We are trying to move into a bungalow now since my stroke the stairs are out of bounds for me before I was I’ll I never wanted to move because this house I’m in met my needs it spacious and I lived in the big kitchen where I could use my PC in peace plus cook at same time and I was right next to the window it was ideal three bedroom as well plenty of room for my grandaughter to sleepover and my son during his time off from work. Why move ??? So when we do finally go I will be sad leaving it but obviously I cant live in the living room forever no baths or shower use to love my shower everyday. Cant tell a lie moving will be very stressful as I cant even help my belongings in my ex bedroom will be in the mercy of other people

  4. Until the end of this year, we are planning to move to a bigger place. I don’t think I am ready. So much stuff we have, I am so scared. I will be so sad to leave our place. We made everything with so much love…but we don’t have space anymore after the baby came.

  5. Having your own home is so satisfying and for me a big kitchen is a must as I cook a lot, also like you having a large garden space would be great for the little ones to play in. Good luck with your search and home you find the house of your dreams.

  6. I hope you find something you like that suits your needs and budget. I know how hard moving can be. Once when we were first married, we had no car and had to move everything across town on foot. Not fun.

  15. I hate moving but we have outgrown our house now so are looking for something bigger. The problem is finding what we want in a property we can afford

  16. Isn’t it awful when you are forced to move out due to landlords plans with the property? I do love everything you have planned so I hope that you find what you’re looking for! xx
