Imaginative Play With Foamë

Jack, like most other children, loves new things to play with. This month alone he’s had an abundance of new toys for his birthday, has some more coming from Santa for Christmas and has been busy testing out some products for review too! One such product that we were sent to review was from Foamë –  a small independent company focused on quality, play and enduring creative spirit.

They quote:

Before foamë®, there were mouldy bath toys. Before foamë®, there were toy bricks that injured little (and large) feet. Before foamë®, there was a world of construction just waiting to be discovered by big imaginations everywhere.

These soft but durable pieces can be used both indoors and outside and even in the bath where they will float! The brand also claims them to be mega resilient which I knew that Jack would certainly put to the test.

Jack is a big fan of building things, putting things together and taking them apart. You’ll often find him putting together building blocks or taking apart the human body toy his Nanny bought him before putting it back together again, all in the right place. I knew he would be interested in this and seeing as he is such a creative soul, I couldn’t wait to see what he came up with.

There are three collections to choose from – adventures, boats and creatures and we were sent the creatures set which retails at £20. So what did we think?

With 15 creatures to make (with the booklet that was included handily telling you how), children can have all different creatures from different parts of the world all come together and play together. I love that the brand include handy little facts like starfish aren’t actually fish – whilst also helping children with their building skills, they’re also educating them and I really like that in a brand.

What I also love about products like this is that you don’t have to play by the rules. Jack is a big fan of imaginative play or role play – its his favourite thing to do at school and I love seeing what wonderful things he can create just using his imagination. I sometimes watch him for ages, interacting with his toys, building new things and making up some wild stories as he goes along. So as you can probably imagine, he didn’t just stick to the 15 creatures, oh no.

As you can see, Jack created a whole new menagerie of creatures with wonderfully weird names like ‘Snakealopadus’ and ‘Sharkflower’ among others! The possibilities with a product like this are endless – as well as following the guidelines and making the 15 creatures, the possibilities for other creatures are endless and Jack will happily sit there for hours, making and creating.

He’s been reaching for this a lot recently and whats great is that you can take it anywhere with you, thanks to the handy ziplocked mesh bag. He’s been telling friends all about it so I definitely think we’ll take this along to our next play date and see how his friends fare with it too.
