Have you ever heard of Grandparents’ Day? I must admit that I never had until I started working in a greetings card shop. Since then, the day has grown in prominence and this year it will be celebrated on the 2nd of October.
Now my grandparents probably have no clue what it is so it will be a nice surprise for them if they get a nice little present from me. But what do you get for grandparents who probably have everything? Here are some gift ideas for the special people in your life.
My Nan would be super easy to buy for. She is super stylish, even at nearly 80 years old, and I am sure that she would love some new makeup, jewellery or even a clothing voucher. She tends to visit charity shops for her clothing more now so it would be nice to treat her to some brand spanking new clothes from a high street store.
My Granddad is a lot harder to buy for – and since my Dad is a granddad too, lets not forget him – he is also notoriously hard to buy for! Socks, pants and crossword puzzles are what I or Jack tend to opt for as you can’t really go wrong but it can get a bit boring after a while. I’ve been taking a look at the range available of Chums menswear and I can definitely see some items I would be happy to pick up for my dad or granddad – unlike us ladies, the men in my life much prefer us ladies to do their clothes shopping for them so I can guarantee that whatever I pick will be much appreciated and well used.
Finally…
my mother. She should be the easiest person to buy for but over the past 26 years, I think I have exhausted every option especially as I now have to buy her presents from Jack too. Bags, clothes, perfumes, books, music – she’ll always be appreciative and use them constantly but the problem is remembering what I haven’t bought her – I have to check in with her and see if there is anything in particular that she wants otherwise I am bound to buy her something she already has. Since having Jack, gift buying has become so much more difficult!
Have you ever heard of Grandparents’ Day before today? If so, do you celebrate it? What sort of things do you buy for your grandparents to show them how much you love and appreciate them?

I’ve honestly never even heard of grandparent’s day before, but what an awesome way to make your loved ones feel so special!! My mother-in-law has done sooo much for our family, and loves my son incredibly-I think I’m going to surprise her this year!
Men are soo incredibly hard to shop for, aren’t they? Well, can’t go wrong with socks!!
Thanks so much for sharing <3
I was raised by my grandparents and I love that day! They substituted perfectly my parents, but they always will be for my granny and nanny!
This year I am thinking to take grandma to some Spa or manicure, to give her beauty day, and for granddad something exciting – day with gun or maybe some formula 1 race, they are still so young insite their souls!
Last year, when I was leaving to college, I gave them Star from Kingdom of Universe, to show them, that we can always be together looking at the sky… They were sooo touched! And certificate is on their wall all the time. 🙂
