Plenty of us are either trying to pay stuff off or trying to save for something. No matter what we are trying to do, it is no lie that we could all do with a little extra money per month. I’m currently putting all money from my side hustles into my savings account and pay certain things back at the end of the month. I currently pay for some things on certain days in the month from my current account but for other things that don’t have a specific date, they get paid at the end.
Work wise, I make my money from freelance writing, proofreading and sometimes blogging. My other half is a security guard and doesn’t have much time for side hustles so the responsibility falls down to me. I’m determined to get all of our debts completely paid off and a substantial house deposit by the time I am 30 (if not before) and this means I need to knuckle down and really work hard. So what do I do?
// ONLINE SURVEYS
I only do a select few survey sites that pay really well. Whilst this doesn’t bring in a large amount (unlike Katy who does really well) simply because I don’t always have the time, its an extra chunk into my savings account that I wouldn’t have if I didn’t do them.
//ENTERING COMPETITIONS
As well as entering cash competitions, I also enter for everyday things that I would otherwise have to pay for. If I don’t win, nothing lost but if I do, that means I can save money on that specific item – I’ve been able to do the weekly shop and much more from competition wins before which means I managed to save the money I would have otherwise used.
//LOOK FOR OTHER WORK
Whilst I make the bulk of my money via my day job, I often do small jobs on sites such as PeoplePerHour. If someone needs something typed up really quickly and I’m available, I’m more than happy to help. I’ve also typed up for local people (my Mum thinks I should put an ad up in the local Post Office as people of her generation keep asking if I can type something/scan something in for them/generally help them with computer based problems. I’m seriously considering it.)
//APPS
I don’t use many apps but there are a few that can be used to make cash or vouchers. My favourite right now is Onepulse as it only takes a few seconds to do the surveys. I’ve heard good things about Bounts and VoxPopMe but I am yet to use them properly.
//CASHBACK
If you are going to buy something anyway, why don’t you get cashback on it? I’m currently waiting on cashback for changing my energy supplier. It is definitely worth it.
//DECLUTTER
Want a tidy house and a tidy mind but also want to make some money? Declutter some of your old stuff then! Sites to use include Ziffit who are offering my readers 15% extra on top of what normal customers would earn when you sell them your old CD’s, DVD’s, books and games! Why not give them a go? I also suggest using Ebay, Gumtree and local selling groups on Facebook for your other items.

I've tried online surveys, comping and cashback before, but I found them too complicated and not worth the time or effort. Great that it works for you though.. You are probably a lot less lazy than me! X
Cashback websites have made me just under £1000 in almost two years, making sure that when we purchase large items that we are getting the best deal and getting cashback as helped pay for the next big expense
Oooh great tips! I do a lot of comps and I've done a few surveys in the past. Will check those apps out though, they sound great. Selling on your local FB group is also a good way pf clearing out old stuff and making a bit of cash with no fees to pay.
There do seem to be a lot of ways to make a few pounds here and there, which certainly adds up! I don't think I'm very organised though. I must try to make more of an effort, so I can see the cash buliding up more!

I do mystery shopping but it doesn't pay that well
