How To Look After Your Skin In Spring

Collaborative Post

You may be experiencing a boost in your mood with the increased daylight and the promise of warmer days. However, other changes can occur that you may not be enjoying in spring, such as new skincare concerns.

Before we explain how to create the perfect springtime skincare routine to prevent or tackle specific skin issues that arise in spring, let’s go into what the term ‘skincare’ means.

What Is Meant By Skincare?

When someone routinely takes care of their skin by washing and applying nourishing treatment, this is known as a ‘skincare’ routine.

Everyone should have a regular and consistent skincare routine to maintain skin that looks and feels great. Good skincare habits help produce skin cells, keeping skin fresh and brighter.

A skincare routine also helps keep skin healthy and free of conditions.

The nature of a person’s skincare routine, i.e. the products they use and how often, will depend on their skin type and the skin conditions they are vulnerable to.

For example, a person with dry skin experiences different issues than someone with oily skin, which means they will need other skincare products.

What Are The Most Common Skincare Issues in Spring?

Below are just some of the skin conditions that may occur in spring.

Acne

Acne is a common condition in which spots appear on a person’s face due to oily skin and a buildup of dead skin cells.

Sweating more often can aggravate breakouts, which are likely to happen as the days become warmer.

Rough Skin

Rough skin generally occurs when a person’s skin becomes irritated. A change in temperature and humidity can lead to skin irritation, causing dry patches or red/white lumps.

Sun Rash

A sun rash is a collection of small bumps on a person’s skin when it becomes inflamed after exposure to sunlight.

How To Create A Springtime Skincare Routine

Let’s now look at how you can create a skincare routine to help prevent or eliminate skin issues you may experience in spring.

1. Inspect Your Skincare Routine

Are your current skincare products within the use-by date? If not, they will likely cause skin issues rather than clear them.

Out-of-date products can irritate your skin, causing breakouts. So, inspect your skincare products and get rid of those that have expired!

2. Use SPF Creams

As the temperatures rise, you should use a daily moisturiser that adequately protects your skin from the sun. This will reduce wrinkles, age spots, and dry patches, helping your skin look and feel younger.

Opt for a moisturiser with at least an SPF protection level (Sun Protection Factor) 30.

The SPF number indicates how long it would typically take for your skin to redden from the sun’s UV radiation, i.e. with an SPF 30 moisturiser applied to your skin, it should take up to 30 times longer for it to burn.

3. Hydration Is Key

When hydrated, skin stays soft and plump and can effectively combat oiliness or flakiness more than if it was dry.

So, if you’re after smooth and hydrated skin, you must have a hydration stage in your skincare routine. Profhilo Haenkenium is a cream that traps antioxidants, helping to fight free radicals and hydrate the skin.

Consider including a skincare booster within your skincare routine, consisting of a highly-concentrated ingredient to target a specific issue.

Furthermore, to help hydrate your skin, you must take note of the fluids you consume.

Drink plenty of fluid throughout the day (at least 6-8 glasses/cups).

4. Exfoliate Your Skin

You should gently exfoliate your facial skin to remove dead skin cells, unplugging pores. Exfoliation is a must because clogged pores can lead to many skin issues.

However, scrubbing too hard or using products that include harsh chemicals can aggravate or redden your skin, so you should use a gentle exfoliator in your skincare routine.

5. Change Up Your Moisturiser

During the warmer months, you should use a light moisturiser. The heavy-duty moisturiser that you used in winter is likely to make your skin greasy during the hot weather.

Consider a moisturiser that contains emollients to reduce water loss. For example, opt for a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) product. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body to lubricate joints and eyes, so it is an effective ingredient in a skincare product as it provides deep hydration.

When the skin is hydrated, it will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, helping to achieve a vibrant, youthful complexion.
