How To Change The Way You Think About Your Appearance

According to a recent study, around 60% of adults in the UK deal with low self-esteem – with many believing that this can be traced back to the way they feel about their appearance.

While you may have grown to accept this as part of your everyday life, it’s important to note that you deserve to love the skin that you’re in – and there are many steps that you can take to change your relationship with your body and appearance for the better. Read on to find out more!

Take action. Sometimes, we are unhappy with our appearance or bodies due to the fact that we know we are not in “good shape” and need to make changes in order to look and feel our best. As such, there’s no time like the present to take action.

There are many different ways in which you can enact positive in this way, starting by following a healthy diet and trying to make more time in your routine for exercise. Remember, this does not necessarily mean that you need to spend hours a day in the gym – as even 10-15 minutes of brisk walking a day can make a difference. If you’ve always struggled with weight loss, you may want to look into different remedies or weight loss aids, such as fat dissolvers, which can help you achieve the results you desire.

Remember that beauty standards are unrealistic. When it comes to boosting your confidence, learning to reject beauty standards can be truly transformational. After all, for the most part, the beauty standards that are perpetrated through the media or social platforms are unrealistic and unattainable for the vast majority of people. As such, attempting to adhere to them means that you’ll never feel as though you are good enough!

While it can feel as though beauty standards are hard to escape, there are many steps that you can take to release the hold they have over you. For example, you could start by unfollowing (or muting) social media accounts that make you feel poorly about yourself or giving yourself a complete social media detox.

Start paying yourself compliments. Receiving compliments is a great way to boost your confidence! However, they won’t have a lasting effect if you continue to think negatively of yourself or fail to see the truth behind the praise you receive. However, you can combat this by starting to give yourself compliments. This is in no way vain or vapid (though it may seem to be in theory), but rather a way in which you can reroute negative thoughts and begin to change your perception of yourself for the better.

For example, when getting ready each morning, look in the mirror and say three positive things about your appearance (either in your head or outloud). Over time, you’ll find that you’re able to come up with positive things to talk about relatively quickly, which, in turn, will boost your mood and your confidence.
