I was sent this vacuum cleaner model from Hoover Direct for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
With two kids and four pets, two of which roam around the home all day, you can imagine that I need to do a lot of vacuuming and you’d be correct. I am always looking for something that will do the job quickly and efficiently and doesn’t require me to go over the same spot over and over again.
I also require something light and easy to manoeuvre. I was recently sent the Hoover Upright 300 Vacuum Cleaner {affiliate link} to test it out and see what we thought. This model is also perfect for allergy sufferers and those with pets, thanks to the HEPA filter installed.

Hoover is a brand name we have all heard – it has been a household name for over one hundred years now and the name instils visions of quality. They are always coming up with brand new and innovative products and I was very excited to give the Upright 300 a try.
Having asthma and suffering from hayfever, the fact that this Hoover upright has HEPA filters, which many of Hoover’s vacuums do, was a real plus point. Dust and allergens can really play havoc with my breathing and with two dogs moulting too, I need something that does the job properly.

Hoover Upright 300 Cleaner Pets
This upright vacuum cleaner is Hoover Direct’s lightest offering and claims to offer no loss of suction, thanks to sustained air performance using multi-cyclonic technology. This technology pushes dust away from the filter and helps to purify the air in the home. Due to it being the pets model, it also includes a pet brush which loosens and lifts stubborn pet hair. Buddy, our dalmatian, moults A LOT and it seems like all I ever seem to do is clean up after him! Most vacuum cleaners I’ve tried struggle to pick all of his hair up.
It is a lightweight and steerable model, making it easy to manoeuvre around difficult spots. The floorhead swivels with an 80 degree steering angle and you can switch between hard floors and carpets with ease, thanks to the adjustable brush bar. It has a total reach of 10.6m with accessories – these include the aforementioned pet brush, a dusting brush and crevice tool.

What Did We Think?
First of all I love how lightweight and easy to manoeuvre it is. We are currently living in a flat so no lifting required but hopefully moving into a house soon. I’m happy that this will be easy to lift upstairs and downstairs and can get into all the little crevices of my home. Upon delivery, it was easy to carry it into my home and unpack it.
It was extremely easy to put together – everything that wasn’t already attached easily slotted together.

Our home is mostly hard floor but we do have a few carpeted areas and long pile rugs and we were able to switch with ease – I just knocked the adjustable brush bar with my foot when I needed to change. The vacuum cleaner was able to pick up all dust and dog hair with ease without the need to keep going back over it. As you can imagine with a moulting dog, the vacuum cleaner filled up quite quickly but emptying it was a really easy process, thanks to the one touch system.
Something my partner was extremely impressed with was the fact that the compartment around the vacuum cleaner brush was removable. One thing he hates is the brush getting something tangled in it and having to struggle to remove the offender, thanks to rigid plastic in the way. Being able to remove this means you are able to untangle whatever item – usually long hair – is caught around the brush and affecting its use.

The extra accessories are clipped onto the vacuum cleaner for easy access and you can slide them on and off when you need them.
The Anti-Allergy Feature
This is perhaps my favourite feature of this vacuum cleaner. I mentioned above that I really struggle with allergens as do a few other members of my family so the inclusion of the washable HEPA H13 filter. It manages to capture a large amount of fine dust and allergens that other vacuum cleaners may miss.
The multi-cyclonic technology also helps to keep normal dirt away from the filter which allows it to stay clean a lot longer. However, should it get dirty, the filter is easy to access and is washable which is fantastic.

In Conclusion
Overall, I am very impressed with this cleaner. It is so important to keep a home clean – especially when you have children and pets – but it can be hard to find vacuum cleaners that do the job as good as this. It is lightweight and durable and I really like the inclusion of the HEPA filter.
You can buy this model for £189 on the Hoover Direct website, however it is currently on sale for just £149. You can buy it here {affiliate link}.

I love the blue colour (I’m such a blue person) I have the red non-pets one and it is great. I can’t believe how light it is and for the price as well it is such a good hoover to have around the home. Definitely suggest it to anyone who needs a new one.
Looks really good!
looks great! I much prefer an upright hoover with attachments – they seem to have more suction power!
This is a great review of the hoover. I like how detailed you’ve been and how practical it sounds especially being lightweight and being able to collect dog hairs whilst also purifying the air. Thankyou
The sound of this is great! I struggle to vacuum all the cat hairs in the house so I would love to give this a try. We’re also hayfever sufferers in the house so we do need a vacuum that has a HEPA filter. Like you I am glad you can remove the offender easily to clean it.
I love the fact that it’s lightweight. The downside to my current vacuum cleaner is that it’s so heavy to carry up the stairs
This looks ideal for me, i would love this hoover, great review
This looks incredible xx
Sounds right up.our Street z – wouldn’t mind one too
Looks good. I’ve always thought that uprights have more power than the stick ones.
Great review, sounds a dream to use and the colour is fab
This sounds like a good hoover. We have dogs and a mixture of wood floor and carpet and we are looking for a new hoover so you may have just found me a good one. Thank you 🙂
Looks awesome, very much needed!
Wow, this vacuum looks amazing!
I love that the part around the brush is removable. With 4 of us in the house with really long hair, I am forever sat there trying to pull out hair from the roller!
This looks great for storage and easy to move around the house.
This sounds like a really good vacuum cleaner. I suffer from a dust allergy so the HEPA filters would be a huge plus
This looks like a great hoover with the added bonus of being lightweight
I’m looking for a lightweight hoover . Handy review.
This is a great, comprehensive review. Thank you for putting it together. I’m considering getting a new vacuum at the moment so this is very helpful.
Sounds great especially being lightweight
This sounds amazing, definitely what I need
Looks great, easy to use and very effective!
oh this looks and sounds just great
Sounds awesome
I was looking for a vacuum cleaner for a while so this post is really essential for me. This looks pretty good
Great insight, this would be right up our street
Having used cordless hoovers for a few years now, I’m not sure I could go back to a cabled one. Saying that, if it is as light as you say then I could consider this.
My current hoover makes such a noise! I’d love a new one, especially one with the specs this does.
Sounds like the perfect vacuum to replace my old one.
