Harry Potter Lex-Go | Review

We were sent this game for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own. This post contains affiliate links.

Jack has really got into Harry Potter recently. In fact, he has just got the first three books for his birthday and can’t wait to get started on them. He loves the films and is always talking about certain characters.

We were recently sent the Harry Potter Lex-Go game from Waddingtons No.1. Lex-Go is a super fast word game where you have to race against other players to get rid of all your tiles by creating words and even swapping letters or attacking the words of the other players.

As this is a special Harry Potter edition, there are some special spell tiles that can help players increase their chances of winning – these are Expelliarmus which allows a player to mess up another players tile, Depulso which allows the player to banish one of their tiles from the round if they want to, Revelio which enables the player to look at any number of tiles before choosing to swap and Stupefy which allows the player to freeze another player out of the game for ten seconds.

There is also another special tile- the Polyjuice Potion which can be used for any letter. Also if you can spell the word SNITCH straight away from your letters, then you instantly win the round. You can’t use proper nouns as words but you can use words from Harry Potter that may be nouns as this is a Harry Potter game, of course!

Jack and I have played many games of this since it arrived – taking it in turns to be the person who starts by saying ‘Lex-Go!’. At the beginning you take 10 tiles from the pile and then once the phrase is uttered, you can turn them over and see what words you can make.

Jack has got the better of me on some occasions with some fab words – and I have often been left with a Q or a Z hanging about which I can’t quite seem to get rid of.

The tiles have a great design – Harry Potter themed, of course – and the letters are clear and easy to see. They store well in the bag they come in too which also has a fantastic design.

This has been a great game for helping Jack to brush up on his Harry Potter knowledge and also work on his spelling. It will be great to pull out on New Years Eve as we always play a couple of games in the evening when we have family and friends round.

I’m very impressed with this game and we’ve been getting plenty of use out of it already. The game retails at £14.99 and can be bought on Amazon here {affiliate link}.

Do you have any Harry Potter fans in your house?
