Oh mannnn, why did nobody tell me about the real parenthood?
I had dreams you know, like most pre-parents. They were dreams like leisurely brushing my daughters hair, we’re both smiling wearing matching tracksuits.
Let me tell you, NONE of these dreams had me sniffing stains on my sofa trying to work out if they were chocolate or shit. That’s the truth.
But that is parenting, parenting is spending all day mumbling swear words whilst throwing snacks towards your children. Then staring at them whilst they sleep wishing you could tell them you love them a million times over.
It’s a journey, where you learn on the job! Think typical apprenticeship, low pay, the worst jobs to begin with, and little respect until you prove yourself.
But damn,do I love it.. You know? And that’s the spell of children. They’re complete arses, but we still love them.
