Collaborative Post
At the moment, I spend a lot of time at home with Olivia. She does have her different groups that she goes to and I also work from home but I often find myself struggling for things to do with her, especially if the weather is shocking and we cannot get outside. When it comes to school holidays and having two kids to entertain, then it can be even more difficult to find something for them to do.
Keen to get them off the tablets and consoles, we’ve been trying out a few different indoor activities when the weather has been poor. Why don’t you give them a try too?
Baking
I’ve done this a fair few times with Jack before Olivia was born but shockingly haven’t since she arrived – although I believe Steve has. Now that Olivia is almost three, I’m keen to start doing more of this with both the kids.
Family Film Day
We often have a family film night but why not make a day of it if the rain is pouring down outside? Choose a film series and work your way through them. Jack is really into Harry Potter right now so we are slowly working our way through the films together – I could watch them over and over again.
Crafting
Something the kids love to do is craft. I’m always coming home from Olivia’s groups with stuff she’s made and even now, in Year 3, Jack comes home with his rucksack stuffed full of things he has made. Until recently, we didn’t have much in the way of crafting materials at home but now we’ve got plenty – birthdays and Christmas always seem to bring the kids new crafting stuff. Whether they’re drawing pictures, putting together dens with stuff they’ve made or decorating rocks to hide round the village with Rainbow Chalk markers, this always keeps them entertained.
Build It Up
Who doesn’t love LEGO? We’ve got plenty of it and always have a new set to build. This is always so much fun – you can do it on your own or build something together as a family. We always have plenty to do, especially after birthdays and Christmas too!
Complete Activity Books
If your kids are anything like mine, you will have plenty of activity books lying around for the kids, full of puzzles, colouring and much more. When the rain is pelting down, why not sit them at the table with some pens and pencils and let them complete it to their hearts content? Much better to get them filled up than to leave them untouched!

When we’re stuck at home, we usually read a lot and do some arts and crafts. Or play with play-dough, because this never gets boring 😉
I used to love baking with my mum when I was little. A frequent rainy day activity in our house! I still love baking now 🙂

Great ideas. Arts and crafts tend to be popular with the children. Also family (especially Grandparnts) enjoy receiving the children’s handiwork. Win : Win.

We have been on a major lego session over the last few days, they have finished them all now
