With the plan in the future to move to Canada, I have been working with JustFly to talk you through some of the fun you can have there!
Montreal, Quebec is one of Canada’s most unique cities. Built on a foundation of both French and English principals, the city was brought up in a conflict that helped mould it into the city it has become. Today, Montreal is a diverse city that has a distinct feel in comparison to other major Canadian cities. One thing that makes Montreal special is its bilingual nature. It is for this reason that it is a great place to bring your children as it affords them a chance to enjoy a new language with the security of knowing that most people in the city can always hop back to English. So, what are some attractions in Montreal that children can enjoy? To find out I spoke with JustFly, an online travel company. They gave me their top three kid-friendly attractions in la belle province’s largest city.
The Biodome
The Biodome is Montreal’s massive ecosystem simulator. Built on the grounds of Montreal’s Olympic Park, the facility was actually once used for cycling events, The Biodome is a can’t miss spot if you are travelling with children who have an interest in wildlife according to JustFly’s review. While some are skeptical of zoos, The Biodome is not a zoo as much of the facility is open in terms of where animals can be found. Also, the purpose of The Biodome is less about seeing animals, but about exploring the variations of the world’s ecosystems. While in the area, visitors can also check out Montreal’s remaining Olympic facilities.
Parc Mont Royal
Montreal’s most famous park, Parc Mont Royal is the city’s centrally located, “mountain” top park. In fact, the city takes its name from this “mountain” (I will continue to refer to it as a mountain, despite the fact its obviously a large hill). So, what does this park offer? Well, the park itself offers some of the best views of the city thanks to its strategically placed lookouts. In addition to these great photo opps, the park is loaded with winding walking and biking trails that take you all over the park. Lastly, Beaver Lake is a large man-made lake at the top of the mountain. In the Summer its great for swimming, with Winter making it a great place for a day out on your skates.
La Ronde
So, kids love theme parks. La Ronde is Montreal’s only theme park, but this doesn’t stop it from being one of the best in Canada. Featuring some of the country’s biggest coasters, this park, which is operated by Six Flags, also features an area dedicated to younger children. La Ronde is easily accessible by public transit, making it a great place to spend a day according to JustFly.
