Have you ever looked closely at the food you consume? Or you belong to the group of people who don’t care about what they put in, rather how much is their concern. Nowadays, almost everyone follows a strict diet to stay slim and smart. As a result, we cut up our diet and limit what we eat. In doing so, a lot of vital nutrients are also eliminated. These nutrients are the building blocks of our bodies. They are the core essentials that we need. And are a mandatory part of our diet.
The human body, as complicated as it is, is unable to produce certain nutrients. Hence there is a need to take them from food. To live a healthy life, six vital nutrients are necessary to be consumed through diet. According to the World Health Organisation, these are extremely important for healthy growth and reproduction. To simplify them, they have been branched into two categories: micronutrients and macronutrients.
Micronutrients, as the name suggests, are those that are required by our body in trace quantities. They are composed of vitamins and minerals. Even though they are needed in tiny amounts, yet a deficiency would result in deteriorating your health. Most people fail to consume the recommended dosage because the main source of micronutrients are fruits and vegetables. This is the reason people take multivitamin supplements made by some famous brands like Gummies Garden, Nature’s Bounty, Smarty Pants, Pure Encapsulations, etc.
Macronutrients are required in huge quantities. These are fats, carbohydrates, water, and proteins.
Carbohydrates
A lot of people are interested in having a low-carb diet. Yet this is not a good idea. Your body needs carbohydrates to function efficiently. Carbohydrates save you from diseases and provide you with instant energy. They also fuel your Central Nervous System. According to the dietary guidelines, carbs should constitute about 45 to 65 percent of your calories consumed in a day.
But all carbohydrates are not the same. Some are good for your health. At the same time, others are mainly going to fatten you up. Beans, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables rich in fiber are the perfect option to go for, rather than choosing refined grains or sugar products.

Proteins
Don’t grab pasta or white bread searching for carbs; the next time you go grocery shopping.
Proteins, the famous nutrient among athletes and the workout community, is also necessary for health. Not just the muscles but your hair, your toenail, your hands, everything has proteins.
Proteins primarily control health, growth, and development. Furthermore, proteins make up the hormones present in your body and the antibodies that help fight against diseases. Our body does not use up proteins as long as it is not extremely important.
Moreover, proteins are composed of amino acids. Surprisingly, your body can not produce some amino acids. And these are obtained from food. On the other hand, other amino acids are made within the body. This doesn’t mean that you must consume all kinds of amino acids in a day. Instead,, your body can extract proteins from the sources you eat during the day and convert them into amino acids.
Eggs are pretty famous for their protein content. Among other sources are meat and fish. Yet if you are a vegetarian, then you could opt for plant-based options. These include soy, nuts, beans, and grains. Protein requirement differs for individuals of all age groups and depends on how active they are.
Fats
The word fats might bring unease to your mind. However, recent research has shown that fats are necessary for your health.
Harvard Medical School suggests that healthy fats are responsible for many vital functions like building cells, absorption of minerals and vitamins, assisting in blood clotting, and movement of muscles.
Even though fats are high calories, those are essential for your body’s function. Unsaturated fats are a healthy option as your body is unable to make them. Although consume them in small amounts, just what is needed. They are found in fish, seeds, nuts, vegetable oil, and coconut oil.
Minerals
Minerals play an essential role in strengthening bones and teeth, regulating the rate of metabolism, transmitting nerve impulses, and regulating blood pressure. They make new blood cells along with hormones as well. In addition to this, they strengthen your immunity. The most common minerals include zinc, calcium, and iron.
Vitamins
These micronutrients are essential nutrients for fighting diseases. The human body requires a total of 13 vitamins. Every vitamin has its job in the body, and lack of it would make you fall sick. Many people need to eat vitamin supplements as their diet does not provide them with the necessary vitamins. For healthy bones, skin, and better vision, vitamins are required. These antioxidants boost healing and reduce the chances of lung cancer. A balanced diet is your key if you want to fulfill all your vitamin requirements.
Water
This is the most crucial nutrient for the body. It enhances your mood and the functioning of the brain. It removes toxins, hydrates the body, and relieves constipation. This universal solvent is essential for you, and you can not live without it.
To sum up, these nutrients are essential for the proper functioning of your body. Follow a balanced diet to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
