This week, I may have had an epiphany. Okay, I possibly didn’t but it’s a good line to start with, right? It wasn’t a sudden realization as I have been thinking about this for a while. It did, however, start to dawn on me that if I really want to fulfil my dreams, I need to really work towards them. I’m finally doing a job I always wanted to do but have gone the incredibly hard route to get there. But there is so much more I have to give.
My cousin who showed little to no interest in writing has had her poetry published in anthologies and lots more – all before she turned 19 – whereas I was too scared to share mine with anybody at that age. I keep deciding to enter writing competitions then chickening out at the last hurdle. It isn’t like I don’t have any ideas, it is because I have so little faith in myself. Steve and my parents have always believed in me but it’s hard to keep confidence in something when you don’t feel like you have the support of your friends. Slowly but surely, however, my friendship circles have changed. I still have a select few friends who will always stay by my side but in reality, the majority of my friends are bloggers.
Maybe it is because they love the written word as I do – but these ladies I call friends actually believe in me. I can come up with the craziest of ideas and these ladies will be there until the very end, even if I fail. Some are mummy bloggers, some are beauty bloggers, some are a little bit of everything bloggers – none of that matters to me, they are simply my friends.
I have let my dreams and ambitions get away from me for far too long. This year, I will enter writing competitions, I will start writing that novel that has been inside my head for so long (roll on Nanowrimo!) and I will follow my heart even if my head thinks I may be destined for failure…it doesn’t hurt to try.

DO IT! You're very passionate about what you write so I know you'll really get far in writing competitions.
And I can't wait to read your novel 🙂
