Destiny | Book 3 in the Brightest Kind Of Darkness series

 GOODREADS / AMAZON                                                                                                               It is no secret how much I love the Brightest Kind Of Darkness series – I have gone on about it enough in the past. I have also become well acquainted with the author Patrice Michelle aka P.T Michelle and when she asked me to review the book, I could hardly say no! See my review for book 1 here, I only recently finished Lucid so haven’t reviewed it yet – silly me! However, this definitely works well as a stand alone too.                                                                                                                                We delve straight back into the story of Ethan and Inara aka Nara and my oh my, does the story start as it means to go on! Unlike the previous books, this book serves to highlight the problems Ethan and Nara suffer in their relationship as well as their deep connection.

The fact that the author kept Nara a strong, independent woman despite all the stuff that is thrown at her within the book only moved to make me love her as a character even more. Sure, there are times when she does seem a little weak – but when your connection with your boyfriend runs as deep as hers and Ethan’s, who wouldn’t?

This book definitely moved the story much further forward than the other books in the series – so much was told in this book but so much was left untold. Ethan himself is Corvus but what exactly is Nara? Being Corvus, it is clear why the ravens gravitate towards Ethan – but why do they attach themselves to Nara so much? So many questions, some answered, some left unanswered.

I liked the inclusion of Drystan as a character and I loved the way the reader never knew whether he was good or bad right until the end – the jealousy Ethan feels towards Drystan and Nara’s closeness also gives a stark reminder that these characters are still teens, despite whatever is happening in their personal lives.

The ending was gripping, just as I anticipated it would be, and left the series with a hell of a cliffhanger for book four.

All in all, I highly recommend this series and I am waiting with baited breath for the next instalment – I’ve even joined the Readers Group to be kept informed of every little detail!
