Crate Creatures | Review

We were sent the item for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Jack loves finding out about new toys on the market and was very excited when he heard about Crate Creatures. When given the opportunity to review one, I knew he’d be ecstatic – but what did we think?

Crate Creatures are a brand new collectible with four different creatures to collect. Each have gruesome features too! Each Crate Creature comes with a favourite tasty snack and makes a unique selection of over 45 ghastly noises when they eat the snack. They also have sensitive noses, tongues or horns and  temperamental shaking if you touch just the right nerve on one of those parts of their body. They will also record your voice and repeat it back – monster style! We couldn’t wait to see who we were sent.

First of all, you need to get into your crate. Just pop the plastic off from around the lock then use the crowbar which is handily provided on the side to pop the lock. Once the lock is undone, remove it and the chain and then use the crowbar again to get into the crate. There is a little pop in button style thing which you use your crowbar as a lever to pop the lid off.

The lid will pop up and you will get to your creature. So who did we receive?

We got Pudge.

You can pull his tongue to hear his fun noises but pull too hard and you will infuriate him and he’ll make you shake in your boots as he shakes too. If you press his horns, you can even watch his crazy eyes glow and roll in his head! Record your voice with Pudge and  hear his monster growl voice speak your words back to you. Knock him over and turn him upside down to make him react with wild roars. Feed him to hear his chomps on his snack of choice, pizza, of course. If his appetite is getting a little too much to handle, lock him back up in his crate!

Here’s a little video showcasing some of his sounds and movements that we made:

Pudge is definitely an interesting creature. Both Jack and Olivia have been having fun playing with him, pulling his tongue and recording their voices and giggling away when they hear it back in Pudge’s own voice.

Jack hasn’t stopped playing with his Crate Creature since he received it; he has been having so much fun with Pudge. He loves making Pudge angry and pulling his tongue or recording some words and phrases and hearing Pudge repeat them back to him. He has already said that he wants to collect them all, eek!

I’m happy for him to collect them for him though if they give him as many hours of fun as Pudge has this year. I can see this being very popular on Christmas lists this year.

There are four to collect – Blizz, Pudge, Sizzle and Snorthog. All four come with 45+ unique creature sounds and their own favourite food – Pudge’s is pizza! They all come with a snack, lock, chain and crowbar and require 3 x AA batteries – but some are included for first use. Each creature records and has a playback feature and each creature vibrates. They are suitable for ages 3+ and retail at £39.99. Want one for yourself or your child? You can buy Pudge here at Smyths Toys.
