A bit late getting this up this week but here is my offering for Prose For Thought, The Prompt and What I’m Writing. I hope you enjoy.

We go through many emotions as a parent. Joy, happiness, fear, sadness, that feeling of never quite knowing if you are doing the right thing.
Then there comes a time, a time where you have to loosen the apron strings, let your child spread their wings and learn to fly.
During their childhood, your control slips further and further away as they experience more, get more daring.
They meet new people, make new friends and suddenly you aren’t the only important person in their world anymore.
It can be tough, watching them as they flourish, as they relish their independence and grow.
But remember that you helped to make them this way and though you’ve loosened control, they’ll appreciate all that you’ve done.
They know.
Lovely look at handing control over to the kids and how tough it can be.
All so true – letting go of control can be so hard – you just want to keep them safe but if you have done a good job then they know how to do those things for themselves 🙂 Lovely poem, Rebecca – very insightful from one so young!
This resonates so much with me at the moment. My eldest will be turning ten in a few months and I’m so aware that the next stage of letting go is coming, giving him more freedom and responsibility. It’s hard, but so rewarding to see them develop and take on responsibility! One of the many bittersweet moments in parenting 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt x

I am certainly not looking forward to this stage of parenthood, although I do give my 8 year old choices about what she does so she does have control over certain things.
