Poundland is one of those shops that can attract a little bit of snobbery from those who have never dared to venture through its doors. Whilst not everything in the shop may be to everyones tastes, I do find myself popping into store whenever I go to town because there is always something I need – and what better price than for £1?
I was kindly gifted £20 of Poundland vouchers and asked to take a look at their Christmas ranges in store. Now £20 is a lot to spend in a place where everything is £1 each so I took my time choosing items and I think I did very well – I would actually have bought even more if I could carry it!
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Poundland sold Santa, stop here signs and couldn’t resist picking one up for Jack to put in the front garden, as well as a couple of extra presents to pop in his stocking!
The decorations section was where I spent the majority of my time – I actually saw this gorgeous girly NOEL sign that would have been perfect for my desk but another customer saw it before me and grabbed the last one! I almost grabbed the glitzy XMAS sign but I thought Steve may not appreciate that one too much! When picking out items, I tried to pick things that we could use year after year – Santa tealight burner or snowman decoration, anyone? Even though we have a small tree this year, I am still hanging a few decorations off of it – and I can also save this for years to come too!
I wanted some lights just to drape around the room – these can be put in the same place high up where the surround sound cables are and provide some sparkle. I also picked up a fibre optic Christmas tree for Jack’s room – don’t worry, it will be out of his reach but I didn’t want him to miss out on the Christmas decoration fun.
Of course, what is Christmas without chocolate and I got plenty! The top picture shows our 3 tubes: Milky Bar for Jack, Fruit Pastilles for Steve and Munchies for me…Jack is the only one to have his left.
The bottom one has some chocolate lollies for Jack’s stocking and a Toblerone for Steve’s. I will have to pop the After Eight in mine, right? 😉
Jack is slowly building up a DVD collection and I couldn’t resist adding these to the pile.
Finally, inspired by Kerry’s post last week, I picked up some lovely little Christmas books. These are something that can be pulled out and pored over year after year and I’m looking forward to seeing Jack’s face when he unwraps these on Christmas Day.
All in all, I am very impressed with the Christmas range that Poundland have to offer – there are some fantastic items that you can hardly believe are £1 and I have found so many things that I can use year upon year – doesn’t that make it even more of a bargain?
We received vouchers to help with writing this post.
