With Christmas quickly approaching, there are so many things coming up in the calendar. I know that I always have plenty on in the run up to Christmas with various markets and kids stuff such as nativities. Then on top of that, I have Christmas meals with family and friends to attend to.
It always seems like my calendar is constantly booked up with things to do and I don’t really want to wear the same outfit more than once, especially when there will be others attending many of the same things as I am!
This means a lot of different outfits because, of course, you want to be dressed for the occasion. I love nothing more than some festive wear – who doesn’t love a Christmas jumper? Especially with Christmas Jumper Day coming up!
However sometimes you need something more special. A nice dress, in perfectly festive colours, a nice pair of heels, a brand new handbag. Perhaps even some fancy dress if that is the dress theme?
Here are my top tips for choosing the perfect outfit for Christmas.
Choose A Colourful Dress
At Christmas time, I love picking out a colourful dress, especially if it is in festive hues such as dark reds and greens. Even golds and silvers are perfect choices. There are plenty of gorgeous dresses for women available and they are usually very affordable too. A decent dress is the right choice for any festive get together.
Accessorise, Accessorise, Accessorise
Accessorising is a must when it comes to looking great for Christmas parties. An outfit isn’t complete without some great accessories. As well as some beautiful high heels, you will want to ensure you have the perfect bag and jewellery too.
If you are planning on hitting the dancefloor, then a clutch bag or small over the shoulder is the perfect choice. If you are attending a Christmas party with the kids, then you are going to want something a little bigger.
When it comes to jewellery, the bigger the better. Whether you prefer silver or gold jewellery, a nice chunky necklace or bangle or some statement earrings is the perfect accompaniment to a good outfit.
Make Sure You Are Comfortable
There is no point choosing a gorgeous outfit if you aren’t comfortable in it so make sure comfort is something you factor into your outfit choice. You can choose the most elegant outfit but if it’s itchy or pinching you, you aren’t going to have a good time!

Be Silly
There’s also the option of being silly! We all want to look absolutely gorgeous and wow our friends and family with our outfits but sometimes you can’t beat a bit of silliness. If your get together has a theme of fancy dress, then why not go all out and be silly?
Of course, choosing festive fancy dress is a great choice – an elf, Santa, a reindeer or even a present – all are lots of fun and guaranteed to brighten up any party! It is something that the kids can get involved with too!
