1.Tell me about The Training Room; who are you?

The Training Room is a leading provider of training courses. Since we started in 2006 we have seen over 10000 students graduate from our training courses and start their new careers in the chosen areas. When we first started we specialised in personal training, providing the fitness industry with ‘industry ready professionals’. We then applied our training modules to the beauty industry in 2014 and then to the IT sector in 2016.

2. What qualifications do you need to work as a Beauty Therapist?

To work as a Beauty Therapist you will need to be qualified to at least Level 2 by an accredited body. Here at The Training Room our courses lead to a recognised ITEC qualification; ITEC Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. The Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) approved course sees you qualify at the highest entry level in the Industry, and it’s recognised worldwide.

3.What would you say to someone considering a career in the beauty industry?

A career in the beauty industry, can be hard going. You can’t just love beauty and be up to date with the latest trends (it helps) but you have to be open and friendly, be able to lend an ear to listen and also be able to make people feel relaxed too. It sounds silly, but without the people skills to match the technical ability you will really struggle in the industry. Saying that, if you have the passion and drive to make what you love doing your career then we would say go for it! If you’re a parent, maybe with young children, who is looking to retrain and enter the beauty industry that it’s more than doable- it’s really flexible and if you’re part-time or even self-employed the hours and work are easy to fit around your family life- definitely a big plus!

4.What does the Training Room’s Course in Beauty Therapy offer?

The course follows the ITEC Level 2 and the ITEC Level 3, which covers both basic and advanced techniques and gives you an overview of ‘beauty therapy’. From massage to manicures and everything in between, we’ve got it covered. We also send you on a one-day OPI nail course to set you apart from the crowd.

5.Are there any training materials provided with the course?

It can be quite expensive to buy all the materials needed for the course, that’s why when you sign up for our Beauty Therapy course we’ll give you a HABIA approved starter kit including all the brushes and other tools you need for the duration of your course and into your new career. We also provide a branded uniform for you to wear throughout the course.

6.Where do you offer your Beauty Therapy Courses?

We have 12 academies nationwide for beauty therapy; including the South Coast, Midlands, and London.

7.Who will be taking the course?

All of our courses are taught by our experienced, qualified beauty therapy tutors. Our tutors have years of experience between them in the beauty industry and have come from a range of backgrounds, from salons to their own mobile business they know what it’s like to work in the industry first-hand. Their expertise and knowledge is key to our student’s successes.

8.What would you say are the advantages of taking a training course as opposed to an apprenticeship or similar?

A training course provides a faster way into the industry and means that you can start working and earning money and more responsibility a lot quicker than taking the apprenticeship route. Our full-time courses take just 12 weeks to complete and after that you’ll be equipped with the skills to start working in the industry at the highest entry level. We also have part-time options available for people who want to be able to fulfil their other commitments whilst re-training, that way you can still work full-time whilst you train, commit to childcare or anything else you need to do.

9.What career prospects are there?

When you qualify as a beauty therapist the possibilities are vast and varied. You could work in a salon, you could go self-employed, you could specialise in certain areas such as wedding make-up or massage. The qualification which we offer is recognised worldwide so you could even end up working in a luxury hotel abroad or on a cruise ship. The beauty industry provides a varied and exciting place to work. The great thing about this course and the career prospects is how flexible they are; for mums who have young children you can fit your training around childcare, as well as your job after- it’s as simple as that. You can retrain and start earning without compromising on the time you spend with your family.

10.What career support is available?

At The Training Room, once you’ve graduated we provide you with up to three years of careers support from our specialist in-house advisors. What’s more is that we also guarantee an interview with one of our corporate partners such as The Onboard Spa by Steiner, Spa London and Blink Brow Bar to give you the very best chance of securing your dream career.
