When I first met Steve, he had a very old Vauxhall Corsa that he had bought off of my second cousin. It was about fifteen or so years old when we got together in 2009 but it served our needs well. He could get to work, we could get to McDonalds with our friends late on a Friday night – simple. Unfortunately we had a crash in the January of 2010 and spent months without a car before Steve bought a brand new Hyundai I30 out of some inheritance money he had come into. This served us very well until summer 2013 and then it died a death somewhere between here and Gloucester with Steve and his best friend in the car. We used Steve’s mums car for a little while but we needed something of our own, especially so Steve could get to work. His mum’s tiny Peugeot 206 was not great when we had to take our parents or even his mum out and we needed something for our growing family. Only problem was we couldn’t afford a brand new car. So what could we do?
Well we needed a car. It was a necessity otherwise Steve couldn’t get to work. We set about checking local dealerships for used cars that were suitable for our growing family’s needs. We must have looked at loads of them and couldn’t quite find something that was suitable for us and our budget, even with Steve’s mum kindly allowing us to part exchange her car. Steve’s credit is good now but it wasn’t as great back in November 2014 but even so we decided to look into getting finance for a car. It can be difficult getting car finance if you have poor credit and we looked through a variety of cars and a variety of options before finally settling on the car we have now. It is spacious, has a massive boot, is a car make that Steve likes, is diesel and literally ticks every box for us – and we managed to get it on finance. If we hadn’t been able to get finance, who knows what we would have done? Our car is serving us well and is probably Steve’s most prized possession!
