Buying A House: Is It For Us?

As someone in the middle of planning my wedding and also thinking towards finally setting foot on the property ladder, I have become a little more aware when it comes to financial matters and have been reading various articles across the spectrum in relation to both these subjects. It has recently been announced that mortgages are at their most affordable level for 14 years – something I completely believe!
This isn’t the first time Steve and I have looked into getting our own property – we actually tried to get one a few years back with a substantial deposit. However, due to bad decisions made when we were younger, we found that although we had the deposit, the mortgage would still be too high – and this seems to have been the case for quite a few people that we know! We are fortunate enough to live in quite a sought after area however this is also unfortunate for us – property prices and mortgage prices tended to be sky high! This has slowly been changing over the past few months though and we are incredibly relieved that we may not have to move far away from family at all – especially if prices stay as affordable as they are right now!

Buying a home  has always been a top priority for us and I think buying their own property is a dream that everybody holds but not everybody gets and that is a shame. It seems like now might be the time to buy or at least think about buying) – who knows how long this affordability may last?

Owning my own home is something I have always dreamed of and will continue to dream of until that one day that we sign on the dotted line..hopefully prices will drop even lower and once our finances are sorted, we can make those steps towards living our dream.

  3. We would love to buy a house but we are the in the same spot. But bad decisions of us allowing family members to be under us for a line of credit. Definitely put both myself and husband in a spot where we have to wait a few years.

  4. We've bought an apartment 11 years ago and it was our scariest decision but I don't regret it for a moment!
