Book Challenge Update

I’m nearing the end of my challenge and I just know I’m going to fail! I have read lots since the last update but I need plenty more books to actually complete this challenge – I’m thinking of either extending the challenge OR keeping you updated with my monthly reads at the end of every month. What would you like to see?

38. Carnival Of Souls by Melissa Marr
A world full of daemons and witches and a possible fight to the death. This book centres around the Carnival, where daemons go to fight to their death, the victor able to ask the chief daemon for something they desire. Aya, a female daemon, does not want to breed and believes her winning the contest would allow her to choose not to. Meanwhile, Kaleb has a mission when not competing in the Carnival…bring a seemingly human girl named Mallory back to the Underworld.
I reviewed this in full for Lesley at My Keeper Shelf here.

39. What’s Left Of Me: The Hybrid Chronicles #1 by Kat Zhang

(Goodreads/Amazon)
One of the best books I’ve read all year! Humans in the WLOM world are born with two souls, one dominant, one recessive; the recessive expected to just fade away. However, Addie and Eva have a secret they’re keeping…Eva is still in there, somewhere.
A full review will be up on My Keeper Shelf soon.

40. Soul Beach by Kate Harrison

(Goodreads/Amazon)
Another fab read from this year! Alice has been a little withdrawn since her sister Meggie’s murder, so she isn’t very happy when she receives emails from someone claiming to be her sister, inviting her to a virtual world called Soul Beach. When she receives an email saying things that only her sister would know, Alice takes a risk and clicks the link…discovering a whole new world in the process.
I reviewed this in full on our collaborative book blog here.

41. Soul Fire by Kate Harrison

(Goodreads/Amazon)
The second in the Soul Beach series and the book starts with a bang with the death of a major character. This book is a little different from the first, as this time we also hear from the murderer, who feels Alice may be getting a little too close to the truth. I can’t wait for the next book to come out, I want to know what happens NOW!
A full review will be going up on Hanging On Every Word in the next few days.

42. Breakfast In Bed by Eleanor Moran

(Goodreads/Amazon)
Long story short, I hated this book. It started out promising, with a good storyline and great characters. However, it seemed that the author got bored halfway through and couldn’t be bothered to think of a great way to end the book. I was totally disappointed with the ending and felt that not only was it completely the wrong thing to do, but it also sent out a crazy message to us ladies! I promised Helen from Beautifully Superfluous I’d write a full review on the collaborative book blog about it, so keep your eyes out for that!

I’m currently reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, how about you?

I really like book round-up posts, so I'd love it if you kept a monthly update going even if you're no longer doing the challenge..I have so many books to read, and everytime I read posts like this I add a load more to the list! x

  2. this is deadly for me, so many new books on the kindle now! and breakfast in bed was awful!

I've had to like this post because you've made me want to read all but the last! Haha.
I'm still plugging through The Devil Wears Prada. Chick lot is not normally my style but I had been trying to get into The girl with the dragon tattoo since Aiden was born (end of Jan) and by August I'd only gotten to chp3! My sister says it can be quite difficult to get into though – would you agree?
TDWP is an easy read, which is why I chose it – it's well written and I am on – wait for it! – Chp8! In the space of a month! Haha. I'm not a slow reader by any means but I just find life a bit hectic at the moment so I really only read on Saturdays! HOW do you find the time to keep up with your challenge? I am so impressed! Good luck with the rest of it xo

    1. Haha sorry hun! It is a little difficult to get through, definitely! Still struggling through x
