Bedroom Decoration Ideas

Although my bedroom is a decent size and more than enough room for all our stuff, it is probably the one room in the house that least feels like home. It has a bed and some other furniture in, some plastic storage and all in all is quite plain.

Steve and I have very different decor tastes so when it comes to rejuvenating a room, it has to be decorated in a way both of us would like – which is why it still hasn’t happened, three years after we moved in!

I’ve been taking a look at the different ideas on different blogs and websites such as Homify, trying to find a style that we both will love that means my bedroom doesn’t still look unloved. I have so many ideas about what I want to do but find them hard to project outwards so having these resources is great for me – it means I can show people what I want without any confusion.

I lean very much to a plain white canvas or a monochrome design. Both are simple and understated but get the desired effect of making my bedroom look a little more interesting. I am planning on moving some books up into my bedroom to fill some of the empty space – its a large room and there is plenty to fill – otherwise it is far too easy to use as a dumping ground.

I’ve seen a few other bloggers veering to the monochrome style and it is easy to see why – it is elegant and looks good, instantly bringing something more to a room. My bed is white as are the walls and wardrobe doors. Adding in some black accessories would really make it look better – and quite a bit different too, Our old bed was black and worked really well with the colour scheme – I’m hoping that by buying a few different items, I can make my bedroom look a little nicer.

I’ve currently got a list as long as my arm of things I want to do to my bedroom and products I want to buy. Hopefully soon it will resemble a nice homely place that I want to spend time in rather than a place where I just lay my head down to sleep.
