Can you believe it is day 12 of our fab advents? Seems crazy that we’ve got this far already and Christmas is so close! Today we have a competition for all the bookworms among you – and we have two more coming up too so if you love a good book, make sure to keep checking back!
Now you know I love a good book – in fact I review them quite regularly on this very blog as well as Goodreads! There is something so relaxing about sitting down and chilling out with a good book! It is one of my favourite things to do and I bet you love it too!
Up for grabs today is a fantastic book from the Headline Accent publishing group. Here’s a little more about it:
How We Got To Today by Ben Ellis
Alternately funny, tragic, and life-affirming, Ben Ellis’ HOW WE GOT TO TODAY is a delightful mix of the everyday and the surreal, the romantic and the comic. Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell and Mhairi McFarlane.
How can you find love, when you’ve lost sight of yourself?
Sheridan doesn’t know what he looks like. There’s nothing wrong with his vision, it’s just that he’s the only person in the world who can’t see his own face.
Despite this, he has it all going for him – a good job as an optometrist, a nice home, and a wonderful girlfriend. All until Heidi, totally out of the blue, dumps him.
And to make matters worse, not only has she broken his heart, but she’s disappeared. Distraught, Sheridan begins to search for her, and ends up finding himself along the way. . .
This is a story about how sometimes it’s the people closest to us that see us the best and, if we lose sight of ourselves, can tell us who we really are.

I love the Harry Potter Series, one of those series that I’m happy to reread anytime! I love the story so much π
A fascinating story
lord of the rings – its a complete ecape to a fantasy world!
I love Circe by Madeleine Miller. It’s great to read a myth rewritten in the perspective of a strong female character, and it’s so beautifully written. When I remember it I feel like I’m remembering a film I watched, rather than a book I read, as I can see it so clearly in my mind.
I don’t really have an all-time favourite book but books that I’ve enjoyed this year include The Foundling by Stacey Halls and The Guest List by Lucy Foley.
The Phillippa Gregory Tudor Royalty series – a lot of t hem pop up in my family tree so I love reading the voices of my ancestors, even if they are largely imagined by someone.
My favourite book is from my childhood, The Magic Faraway Tree. Itβs full of joy and wonder.
I’m a massive book-lover so trying narrow it down to just one favourite is really hard. I think Karin Slaughter’s Pretty Girls is one of the best books I’ve ever read so I’ll
I love The Hobbit because it takes me far away from reality
To Kill a Mockingbird. I first read it at school many decades ago and despite all the dissecting that goes on, I still love the story and return to it regularly
I loved the Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley it kept me hooked the whole way through and so did the second book the storm sister. I can’t wait to borrow the next one from my mum to read it. It is such a great storyline and emotional too.
Like Toast by Nigel Slater – touching, funny and full of food from my childhood x
