Planning a day out is quite a family friendly focused thing, isn’t it? That isn’t so bad; when you’re taking the kids out for the day, you can often enjoy the experience as an adult as well.
But these kinds of activities aren’t quite the right fit when you’re heading out with a bunch of fellow adults. And let’s face it, nights in with the girls can get a little stale after a while; sometimes you want to get out and about without needing to hit the bar!
So if you’re looking for a little adult day out inspiration, this is the post for you. Check out our ideas below.

Have a Picnic Where Everyone Brings Something
If you’ve got a pretty big friend group, why not set up a picnic for everyone to contribute to? No one person is in charge of ensuring a picnic basket, refreshments, and all the right utensils make it to your gathering.
Everyone has to pitch in with one thing, and you’re not allowed to tell each other what you’re bringing. And if no one thinks to bring any plates or napkins, not only will it be funny, but you’ll get a real insight into the way your friend group thinks!
Go to an Escape Room
Escape rooms don’t actually need to be solved in order to have a great day out. It’s more satisfying when you can work out the puzzle and beat the clock, but you don’t really need to! If you’re worried that it’ll take a lot of energy to complete an escape room, remember that you just need to have fun trying to find the solution and escape the room.
Plus, it’s quite easy to find an escape room somewhere near you. Most cities and towns have at least one company known for crafting great escape room experiences, and you could make it an aim to try each one and see if you can get out of them all!
Pick a Place and Get Lost
And our last idea for the day, you might just want to pick a spot none of you have been to before and get lost together. This can be a forest, a town, a village, a beach, a big city; it doesn’t matter.
Just make sure you all know where it is you’re going beforehand so you can pack accordingly. No one should have heels on if you’re going for a hike in the woods or a stroll on pebbles!
When you’re at your destination, you can find new things to do, go for lunch at a restaurant you’ve never tried, and even try out some of the nightlife (if you don’t mind getting back late!).
There are a lot of adult friend groups out there who need some more days out! If you and your friends feel this way, make sure you block out as much of a 24 hour window as possible to try out one of these ideas.
