A Look Back on My Wellness Journey Through the Help of My Phone

This post is a collaboration with O2 but all thoughts and experiences are our own.

I am not going to lie that I am anywhere near as fit as I was before the pandemic, before I had Olivia in fact – as that would be a lie. Whilst I was going out getting my daily exercise in the form of walks, I definitely didn’t exercise anywhere near enough and wasn’t eating or drinking very well.

As restrictions have slowly eased, I have been working towards feeling much more myself again and have been taking myself on a wellness journey. I am still nowhere near where I want to be – I still have weight I want to lose and still want to get fit – but I am happy with the way I am heading.

I’ve been using my iPhone 12 and the fantastic apps it has available to help me with my journey. There are a variety of apps I use to help me with my journey and I wouldn’t be without it.

The iPhone 12 is a great device and has access to some of the best apps out there – there are so many that can help us to boost our mental and physical wellbeing.

Many of these apps really do take advantage of some of the newer features the device offers and I have really been enjoying using it as part of my wellness journey. But how has my phone and the type of apps I use helped me with my mental and physical wellbeing?

Fitness & Exercise

I have always struggled with motivation when it comes to fitness however when I am truly motivated, I can’t stop. A brief look back at some of my fitness posts will showcase this! However the motivation has been severely lacking in recent years and I’ve been relying on apps to help me get my mojo back.

There are a number of apps available on iOS which offer workouts for all different exercise styles and which include nutrition tips and meal plans to ensure maximum results.

Food & Diet

I have always utilised food and diet apps ever since apps became a thing – they can be so useful. I fell off the wagon a little during lockdown and did not great make food choices but there are various apps available that I use now to track the different foods I am eating and seeing how good for me they are. There are a few out there that work in conjunction with your wearable devices too which make it even easier to track.

Mindfulness

It is just as important to take care of your mental health as it is your general health which is why I utilise apps to help with this. I use hobby apps, of course, such as Kindle and Audible, which help me to relax but I also use some general mindfulness apps too. The Calm app offers some great meditations for beginners but is also great for those who are more advanced. It has been really beneficial for me and allowed me to relax when I struggle to do so.

Do you use your phone to aid you in your wellness journey? What differences have you seen? I have seen such a difference since I started taking a more proactive and dedicated approach, all with my phones help. I am eating healthier,  I am walking more and I am planning on doing so much more as the weather gets better.
