Charlene from Sooper Books kindly created this image for me to aid with the creation of this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve been wanting to get myself a character image for my blog and social media profiles for quite some time now but hadn’t got round to finding someone. As chance would have it, the team behind Sooper Books were looking for people to collaborate with. We discussed what I wanted and Charlene came up with the finished result. But let’s talk a little more about their company first, Sooper Books and their range of bedtime stories.
About Sooper Books
Started by husband and wife team, Simon and Charlene Hood, the main principle behind Sooper Books in ensuring that all families have free access to bookshop quality stories for their children at the touch of a button. Both have won awards for their work and each story is lovingly created from scratch by the two of them – with hours of care and attention put into each one.
The site recently launched back in December 2019 and so far their stories have already been shared over 23,000 times. They have a fantastic Get Kids Reading campaign which I think is amazing – you know how passionate I am about education and reading. You can find out more about the brand here.
I have been reading some of the stories with the kids and they absolutely love them. They are so well illustrated and told so well. The covers all capture your attention straight away.
I received a preview image, watermarked, before the final illustration and I was so chuffed already. I feel that Charlene has completely captured everything that I wanted her to and the illustration really looks like me – perhaps even a little better than me! I adore the colours used, the blue really pops and stands out and instantly grabs the attention.
I’ve already changed my Instagram and Facebook profile images and am shortly going to be changing my Twitter image and even the one on this blog – I love it so much that I just want to show it off to absolutely everyone.
Charlene is very talented and I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with her. Her work is absolutely incredible and I love the concept behind Sooper Books – her and Simon have a great idea there and I love that their stories have already been shared thousands upon thousands of times. It is clear to see that they are passionate about education and reading which is something I definitely look from in a business.
Overall, I am very impressed with Charlene’s work and would definitely be sure to contact her in the future if I wanted any further illustrations doing.

The illustration is awesome. Charlene is really a talented person. I love that they have started that Get Kids Reading Campaign. Getting children to love books and reading at an early age is a good habit.
Looks fantastic, makes a nice change in pictures and adds a bit of fun and creativity to life, my kids would love to see a picture in the style of books that they like
