First of all, apologies for getting this review up a little later than I had planned. Technological hitches and trouble with my photo order led to delays but now I finally have my chosen A3 picture, ordered from Photobox, I can now properly review the item properly.
I was contacted asking if I would like to review the wall mounted acrylic photo frames from The Plastic People. Now these are like nothing I have ever owned before so I instantly said yes, knowing I had some fantastic pictures from our holiday that would be perfect.
Ranging in price and size from £30 for an A5 size to £84 for A1, I chose the A3 size from here. I then ordered the photo I wanted in A3 size and this is the end result…
The frame comes with stick on plastic which has to be removed (which I totally didn’t realise at first). It took me a while to ensure I had got the print how I wanted it within the frame – getting it level is not as easy as you might think.
Each frame comes with two 4mm thick acrylic panels and 4 polished chrome wall mounts. Since I haven’t yet decided where I will be putting the picture, I obviously haven’t yet mounted it to the wall but I have taken great delight in putting the picture on the corner of my desk, inspiring me to get working hard to save for another holiday. Below are the chrome wall mounts – they simply screw in.
I really love the quality of this frame. Made from a material which is much more functional and practical than glass but still has the same overall effect (if you didn’t know, would you be able to tell that it wasn’t a glass frame?). It is easy to put together and seems relatively simple to get it mounted up onto the wall.
Whilst the frames are designed to be mounted on the wall, it cannot be denied that the frame would work well simply placed on a desk or something similar. The wall mounts are fairly inconspicuous and take nothing away from the frame or the picture inside itself.
Retailing at £42 for the size I chose, I can’t say a wall mounted frame has ever been at the top of my list but it certainly will be now. I have quite a few canvases around the house as you may have seen but these are far too easy to knock off the wall and get damaged due to the material. Since these frames are acrylic not glass, they are much less likely to break which is great in a house with a reckless toddler.
I will definitely be purchasing more acrylic frames in the future – I think I may print out some inspiring quotes and pictures and keep them on my desk. What do you think?

This frame looks great, I love the idea of putting inspirational quotes in it – I could do with something uplifting hanging above my desk 🙂
I really like the idea of this, I would imagine it would be light enough to use no nail strips too which would be great for me as we live in a rented home and can’t hang regular pictures.
I really like the look of this frame, and your picture looks really good in it! I think one of these would look fab in my office
Oh I really like the look of these and like how they are acryllic rather than glass – I think I would also worry about lining it up straight! Spirit measures at the ready!
I love this. It really looks great and such a fabulous photo inside it x
I’ve never thought of having something like this done, but it looks amazing.
I really love the look of these – and the photo you chose to frame is gorgeous too x
Wow, such a beautiful thing to have in your home!
I really like the look of this and it does look really well made too x
Lovely frame for a photo, protects without overwhelming the image.
This looks really good. I don’t think this is something I’d be interested in as I’m picky about things that go on my walls but i can see why people would like it 🙂
I love the frames, I have some gorgeous pictures that I need frames for so will definately be having a look to order – Thank you x
This looks really amazing, I love how the photo stands out. And the price is reasonable too.
Totally see why it’d be hard to align the picture up, I’m rubbish at just a 8×10″ frame with a border in it! What a striking finish though, gorgeous!
Love this I did wonder what it was from your Instagram now it all makes sense very pretty.
These look fab, however a tad pricey for what is basically a frame? Wonder How easy they would be to replicate?
Me likey! I have a gajillion photos from our recent family holiday to Bali – can’t wait to get some of them nicely framed up. x
I really like the look of it, did I read it correctly that the picture is not in the frame upon delivery? I guess I am too much of a perfectionist to do it myself. 😀
Nope, I ordered my picture separately as it is one I took myself.
I love the idea! I might need to purchase one when I have the funds x
I really like the look of these frames in a contemporary house. Ours Is more of a canvas type house so acrylic would look out of place….however maybe in my office?? hmm…
