Why I Love Flowers In My Home and Garden

Collaborative Post

Do you love flowers in your home or your garden? I know I do! I always have some flowers brightening up the rooms in my house and have recently started planting flowers in the garden to make it feel more like home.

It can be tough to know what flowers to choose and where to get from. Everyone has their own specific favourite flower so it can be hard to agree on what ones to have decorating the house or what ones to plant in the garden. I have a thing for orchids, Olivia likes roses and Steve and Jack basically like any flower that is quite colourful. We also have to be careful what flowers we have in the house because of our pets but one flower we can certainly all agree on is tulips.

Dutchgrown have some amazing tulip bulbs for sale and we have been considering getting some for our home. Many think of tulips as the quintessential Spring flower. You used to get tulips in a limited colour palette but now, through careful breeding and hybridisation, they now come in an array of colours including white, pink, red and purple, among others. There are even unique colours too and many different shapes and styles. They have thousands of varieties and species so there really are many to choose from. They are also relatively easy to grow which is good for me as I am not the most green fingered of people!

But why do I love flowers in my home and garden so much?

They Brighten Up The Place

It cannot be denied that flowers can really make a home look much brighter and fresher. A room always looks more welcoming with a vase of fresh flowers on the windowsill or mantlepiece or a new bed of flowers freshly planted in the garden. You can even choose flowers that work with your interior design to make a room look even better.

There Are Many Benefits

Having plants and flowers in your home has been found to boost brain cells which helps you to concentrate more and also helps you to stay motivated. They also help to boost your mood with some having genuine calm-inducing qualities. Some help to keep illness at bay whilst others help to improve mental health. There are so many benefits to having flowers in your home, I don’t understand why some people don’t!

They Clean The Air

Certain flowering plants can help to remove harmful toxins from the air and also give off large amounts of oxygen. This means they are giving you fresh air around your home which is great!

Some Help You Sleep

Some flowers and plants actually help you get to sleep so it is understandable that some people choose to have those in their home at all times, to aid them. Who wouldn’t want a natural remedy to help them sleep instead of having to lay awake or take medicine?

These are just a few reasons why I love flowers in my home and garden. There are many benefits of plants and flowers. What are your favourite flowers to have in your home?

  4. I love flowers everywhere. This is the first year we’ve properly successfully grown things in the garden and it’s making me so happy, I want to turn to inside the house now and get more here. Love the tulips, so colourful.

I absolutely love having flowers in my home and some of my favourites are tulips, sweet peas and sunflowers all because they are bright, vibrant and uplifting. I think having a bright bunch of flowers placed in the home can life the whole mood of a room (and of a person) not to mention many smell lovely too! x
