Life In A Lockdown {Linky} – Week 38

Week 38 and boy, has it been a downer!

How has the past week been for you? We went from remaining in tier 2 to tier 3 and then tier 4 in a couple of days!

This linky was born from an idea by Jenni and Sarah, I was super happy to come on board and take you along on the journey too. It has been nice sharing my weekly thoughts and feelings with you all.

The rules for linking up with us are pretty simple. All we ask is that you link back to me and Sarah in your post as we are the hosts and then answer the questions that we too answer every week. This week we have updated the questions to fit these new times so I’d love to see a few more of you joining up. Once you’ve added your post, submit it via the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the post!

Here are the most recent questions:

1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

1) How are you feeling/coping?

Struggling a little bit, I’m not going to lie. To have Christmas ripped away like that so quickly was quite shocking and upsetting and I still believe it should never have been promised in the first place. Funny how they waited until late afternoon on the busiest shopping day of the year though…

My mum is a single person who is over 60 and quite vulnerable since my Dad passed away so she will be forming a support bubble with us during tier 4 times.

2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?

Getting annoyed, reading, entering a lot of competitions – I’ve had some good wins too -, watching lots of films, watching the darts on TV, watching Safe on Netflix and finishing it (anyone know of anything else like that and The Stranger to watch?), shopping for presents, working.

3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?

I really don’t know – and at this point of time, I don’t want to think about it.

4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?

Good friends stuck around.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

Just presents for the kids and family and friends, to be fair! I love what I bought Sarah for birthday/Christmas though!

6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?

We are back to the virtual murder mysteries from Boxing Day!

7) What is something your readers might not know about you?

That I went to the same secondary school as Paul from S Club 7, haha!

8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

My friends and family, definitely.

I really can not believe we have had Christmas taken away like that. Totally fed up now and trying not to see the news and look forward to a different kind of Christmas

  2. I agree about not thinking ahead too much. I have felt really overwhelmed lately, I was doing really well but I think it all caught up. I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

  3. Rhian westbury says:

I think it’s so sad that you’re not allowed to mix with your support bubble in tier 4 either, my grandad is bubbled with my parents and they can’t even meet on Xmas day which makes me sad as my grandad is 90 and lives on his own.
We actually did a virtual murder mystery for a few friends birthdays last weekend and it was lots of fun x

  4. It’s been absolutely frustrating I hope my parents had come over before the announcement so we could have stayed together for Christmas.

  5. MELANIE EDJOURIAN says:

The virtual murder mystery sounds like really good fun. I’d love to do one of those. Same here, grateful for friends and family. I’m hoping to do a few facetime calls soon.

  6. I haven’t heard of Safe on Netflix but I’m always looking for a new series to get into.

  7. 1) I’ve felt unusually low this last week. I’m normally quite upbeat and trying to support everyone else. This week I haven’t felt able for for much.
    2) I have spent this week getting ready for Christmas and pushing myself to do the activities I enjoy – writing, walking, reading & baking
    3) I think everything is going to get tougher now, especially with Brexit. I’m very concerned how leaving the EU is going to alter my plans to live & work in Ireland.
    4) That I did my best in the situation lived in
    5) Apart from food from local & small suppliers I’ve not bought anything
    6) Reading books & looking at photos of Cork on Instagram and having some great conversations with friend locally & in Ireland
    7) I’m a full time A&E Senior Nurse and part time Forensic Nurse
