Right now, most businesses will probably be focused on salvaging what they can of 2020. In particular, businesses of all sizes will be hoping for at least some Christmas cheer. Hopefully, 2021 will be the year of recovery. With that in mind, here are three tips to reboot your business for 2021 and beyond.
Refresh your image
Most people are going to want to put 2020 behind them and pretend it never happened. Sadly that isn’t an option. You can, however, give your businesses a new, or at least, updated look for 2021. Partly, this is just about getting that feeling of a fresh start. Partly, it’s about projecting an image of success, to yourself and your customers.
Remember, nobody likes negativity, especially after everything 2020 has thrown at everyone. If your business is looking a bit the worse for wear, then it can be off-putting for (potential) customers. This can send you on a downward spiral, which is exactly what you want to avoid.
Giving your business a “2021 refresh” needn’t be expensive. It can be as simple and affordable as a coat of white paint, some new business cards, or a new theme on your website. Basically, just do as little as you need to make your business feel fresh again.

Get smart about SEO and social media
If there’s one business lesson to take away from 2020, it’s that all businesses need an effective online presence. This means, firstly, you need to rank highly for appropriate keywords. Secondly, you need a strong community on at least one social media platform.
Both organic SEO and organic social-media development take time. If, however, you have a bit of budget, you can push the process along a bit more quickly. Boosted content is one way to do this. The effect of this can, however, be short-lived. This means that you would need to keep on repeating it until you gained sufficient organic momentum.
Another option would be to include plenty of highly-shareable content, especially giveaways and competitions. Your prizes would typically be a mixture of your own products/services plus branded promotional items like socks from Custom Sock Lab. Promotional merchandise can be very affordable if you choose the right supplier (e.g. dynamicgift.com.au), especially if you buy in bulk.
Review your business model and processes
Look at what you do and how you do it and actively look for ways it could be done better. Of course, better is a matter of definition. After 2020, one compelling definition is “more robustly”.
In terms of your business model, that means expanding or diversifying your core business to have a greater range of options. In terms of your business processes, that means looking at what you need to keep your business going and seeing how you can secure access to it.
Last but definitely not least, take some time to review your security, both digital and physical. Cybercrime really is a major and growing threat. Physical crime has, sadly, not gone away. Make sure you do everything you can to protect yourself and your business against both.
