Blogging is a fabulous way to earn money and show the world your expertise in life. Starting a blog isn’t too difficult. There are just a few simple steps to starting a blog. Once you’ve started your blog though, you’ll start to realize that there are many pros and cons of blogging. Today I’m featuring a list of these pros and cons to help you understand the entire world of blogging.
The Pros and Cons of Blogging
PRO: Flexibility to Be Your Own Boss
Blogging allows you to be your own boss and create a flexible schedule. This means you can have more time for family. You can also get to your family events and appointments without missing out on work hours when you run a blog for income.
CON: Requires Huge Levels of Commitment
While some people may argue that blogging doesn’t require a lot of commitment, it does if you happen to use this as an income source. You’ll need to have a content calendar and plan your content to ensure that it’s always SEO-friendly and ready for the world to read.

PRO: Meet New People
Blogging can open the door to meeting new people and traveling to new places. Even if you don’t opt to travel, there are many groups online where bloggers work to communicate and engage with each other. This helps you meet new people and start to develop your circle of friends that will always understand what you’re talking about during a good and bad day of blogging.
CON: Time Consuming
If you have a money-making blog then you’ll find that it’s rather time-consuming. You’ll have to invest a lot of time in learning SEO tactics, planning content, and creating social media images for shares. If you start to review products on your blog, it could take hours to get the photos and review content ready.
PRO: Boosts Business Exposure
If you have a business, then blogging can open the door to a whole new way to reach your target audience. You can boost business and product exposure by having a blog that showcases your expertise in a way that links to your business products or services to get more marketing.
These are just some of the major pros and cons of blogging that I could think of. Each of these pros and cons is pretty much the same across the board when it comes to any niche blogger. I hope that these pros and cons of blogging have opened your mind to how much is involved in this venture.

Blogging is great and love that I earn a passive income from it but its so time consuming and definitely you need to be committed to stay in this game.
Totally agree! It sure can take up a lot of time and work but I love it. Some days are easier than others with it too
I love blogging and have made some lifelong friends from it, but people don’t seem to understand how time consuming it can be…….even my husband moans LOL
I was just chatting to a friend about blogging this morning and what you have written here is what I shared with her. I do love the flexibility but find I spend more time working than I should.
Blogging is not recognised as a job by many but people don’t realise you can earn a living from it. I agree it needs a lot of dedication, scheduling sticking to a plan and definitely having a niche helps. Being consistent is important too,
This is all so true, people understimate how hard it can be to turn it into a job! It’s a great job but a 24/7 one!
I have been blogging since 2014 and t’s only this year that I have really started to enjoy it. I have always thought the cons outweigh the pros but I have totally changed my mind.
There are definitely a whole load of pros and cons and I think they definitely weigh each other out . I love blogging but also hate it at times
Oh I was chatting with my friend Kimberley at Swoonworthy last week about this as we have both been at this for a decade now. The world of blogging has changed so much and the need to diversify is real I feel. Back in the day when I started no one knew you could make a career out of it but now when I tell people how I pay my mortgage people think I am crazy
The best thing about blogging for me is the flexibility. If I need to take time off I can. But the downside it take up an awful lot of time!
It is SO time consuming; there’s always something to do! I do love blogging though.
This was a good read. Things I hadn’t thought about when it comes to blogging. Thank you!
I love blogging but it is indeed super time consuming and requires lots of effort!
