Baby Annabell Lunch Time Annabell | Review

We were sent the item for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

We have reviewed plenty of items from the Baby Annabell range before so when offered the chance to review the Baby Annabell Lunch Time Annabell, I knew Olivia would be super excited!

The 43cm doll is extremely lifelike in its functions. The doll comes with clothing of a top, trousers and hat. The other accessories are a bib, bottle, plate, spoon, food box with food chips (with stickers to put on these), a potty and poo chips (again, stickers come to put on these).

The doll requires 3xAA batteries which are not included.

Olivia loves her dolls and is always playing with them and making stories up. She is always feeding them her food or putting them on her potty so she was made up to see this Baby Annabell set turn up.

Pop Annabell’s food chips onto a plate and feed her with the spoon. As soon as the spoon touches her lips, she will open her mouth so you can feed her. The doll has convincing sounds of lips smacking and swallowing as the food chip is swallowed in. If she is full, her mouth will no longer open.

What Olivia and Jack found extremely funny and realistic was the toilet time. Putting Annabell on her potty, all you need to do is press her tummy and she will poo out little chips into the potty through a hole in the bottom half of the doll. There is a little compartment on her back for the other chips you’ve fed her so you can remove them to use them again next time you play.

The bottle is perfect for a drink after her toilet time and soon she will be tired and lay on her back and go to sleep.

With Olivia about to head into nursery, I am seeing her becoming much more grown up. She is showing more care and concern for others and is becoming really empathetic. I believe dolls like this encourage empathy and responsibility as they are super realistic in their actions and give children the responsibility of looking after them and sorting out all their needs.

Olivia hasn’t let Annabell out of her sights since and will disappear into her room to go and get her to bring her down for a cuddle.

I am really impressed with the doll and how realistic the movements and sounds are. I love that it promotes imaginative play and can entertain children for hours whilst also allowing them to work on their empathy and emotions.

There is only one thing that I don’t like and that I worry about. The doll is for ages 3+ but the buttons for the food chips are very small – and whilst three year olds aren’t babies, they do like to pop things in their mouth still and I would worry about them swallowing them. For that reason, I would recommend adult supervision with the doll until they are a little older. You can purchase the Baby Annabell Lunch Time Annabell here for £54.99.
