During the summer holidays, we decided to go on another short UK break before we headed on our big summer holiday to Cyprus. You can read all about our travels in the UK here.
Blackpool is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit again after a trip when I was about nine or ten. I loved it there and I couldn’t wait to take the kids there to see what it had to offer.
Our Accommodation
Once again we opted for a Premier Inn. They just can’t be beaten when it comes to price and comfort – you can see why Sam loves them too. We had a few meals there – breakfast and a dinner. The food was okay, not the greatest of quality but that isn’t a reflection on Premier Inn but rather the restaurant attached.
Coral Island
Unfortunately the traffic was awful and it meant we got to Blackpool quite late. We had a gifted visit to Coral Island so we dropped our stuff off at the hotel straight away and headed off. I’ve popped some pictures below but you can read all about our visit here.
We had a fantastic time and the kids were thoroughly exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel. They fell asleep quite quickly, ready for an action packed day the next day.
Blackpool Tower
I remember visiting Blackpool Tower when I was younger and I always wanted to go and stand on the glass floor. However when I went as a child, it was far too windy and I missed out. I wasn’t planning on missing out again!
There are different things available to do at the Blackpool Tower but we only managed to visit the Blackpool Tower Eye. I definitely want to head back and visit the ballroom and the circus – I remember the circus from when I was younger and it was incredible.
The views were absolutely incredible and the kids were so brave, stepping onto the glass floor without a care in the world. It took me a bit of courage to do so!
We definitely hope to head back in the not too distant future!
The Beach
Would it be a trip to Blackpool without visiting the beach? The Golden Mile is amazing and the kids loved walking through the sand and splashing in the sea.
If you head to Blackpool, definitely consider taking a walk along the beach. It’s wonderful.
Madame Tussauds
Blackpool is amazing for attractions and Madame Tussauds on the seafront is one of them. It had been many, many years since I had last visited a Madame Tussauds and it was amazing to go in with the kids. Jack especially loved the Marvel section and I loved that they have a Strictly section, complete with glitter ball!
We spent ages in Madame Tussauds and even had a drink in their special Rovers Return bar – the drinks in there are very affordable! This was such a nice touch and a great addition to the Blackpool attraction.
We had a wonderful weekend in Blackpool and I really want to head back with the kids and show them what else it has to offer. What things would you suggest doing in Blackpool?

We went to Blackpool last half term, and it was fabulous! I used to go when we were tiny to see the illuminations so it was great to take my own kids. We loved the Pleasure Beach, it was strange to think that both sets of our Grandparents, and probably great grandparents had been on a few of those rides too! 😀 x
I absolutely love your photo of the Blackpool Tower, the light on it is gorgeous. I would love to visit with my kids, none of us have ever been and it looks like so much fun!
Blackpool isn’t far from us but we haven’t been for a while. I used to go a lot as a child, the tower was one of my personal highlights! The circus is amazing!
I have not been to Blackpool for many moons now and I need to revisit, not climbed the tower yet either.

I’ve never been to Blackpool before. I knew it was a very family friendly place, but now I know a little more I am definitely going to have to add it to our list! There’s SO MUCH to do! I love the Groot model!
Blackpool is a great place for families – so much to see and do!
Blackpool is one of those places I’ve yet to visit but it looks like one of those places that I’d love to spend a weekend visiting! x
It sounds like you had a fantastic time and manged to fit lots in! Blackpool is somewhere I really want to take my two little ones soon as there seems to be so much to see and do there that they would enjoy! Coral Island sounds like lots of fun and the views from the tower are pretty cool, not sure I would be brave enough for the glass floor though LOL!

I can’t believe how impressive the view from Blackpool Tower is. I’ve never been myself, but I’d love to. I’m hoping to explore more of the UK in the coming year or so
We visit Blackpool often and have to agree with all the places you’ve mentioned. The arcades are always our first spot.

I’ve only been to Blackpool once as I live down South in Hampshire, we could not get over how cheap everything was compared to down here, eg ice creams, cuppas etc so we were mega happy!
Never been to the UK, sounds like a good aventure to be had.
Love Blackpool there is so much to do for families – could spend ages there!
