Makeup haul & perfume freebies :)

Now, you may recall me recently telling you about my little shopping trip where I bought a ton of new makeup that I didn’t really need.

I also promised to show you the aforementioned makeup. So here we are –

This is my first experience with MUA and Astor makeup, so instead of including swatches in this post, I thought I would do separate posts for each with my thoughts on each brands products. Although I didn’t really need any of this makeup, I cannot deny that the prices are extremely reasonable for what you’re getting in regards to all of the above. Whilst I was rooting around in Poundland looking for some of the items above, a rather snooty man turned to his wife and muttered something about not being able to find good brands of makeup in the store. His face was a picture when she pulled out some Rimmel and Max Factor products! I know a few people don’t like buying makeup from discount stores such as Poundland but I’d like to point you in the direction of Fee’s blog, and in particular to her posts here and here. Often the products have just been discontinued from bigger store names such as Boots and Superdrug and find themselves in Poundland where they are snapped up by people like me & Fee.

I digress.

In the post recently, I also received two perfume samples. Both are reasonable sizes for a sample, however I’m sure you’ll agree that Burberry surprised us all when distributing free samples of their new fragrance Burberry Body. I don’t think anyone was quite expecting the generous 4.5ml sample we received, in comparison to normal free sample sizes of 2ml and below.

I apologise for the state of the packaging – I actually received this before I moved out of my old place, and it has been resident of my handbag for the past week and a half as I love it so much! My mum and I also tend to disagree on fragrances, and even she loves it! Described as a luxury fruity chypre, it certainly does smell fruity and the brand name Burberry no longer makes me think of the ‘chavs’ wearing the fake stuff of yesteryear. A great fragrance, and I would love the full sized bottle of this. (If the boyfriend reads this…HINT HINT!)

As you can see, the Britney sample is more of the size you’d expect from a freebie. I received the sample this morning, and although it is a nice fragrance, I’m not overly impressed. It smells a lot like her other perfumes to me (one of which I had to bin the other day – sob!) and although I do like Britney’s other fragrances, I feel she could have spiced it up a little.
